Last month, our Clinical Health Psychology Service formally transferred to the Trust, having previously been delivered by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. 🤝

The team, led by Dr Anna Lagerdahl, supports patients to manage the emotional impact of physical health conditions and works closely with clinical colleagues to embed psychological thinking into everyday care.

This move will help further integrate psychological support across hospital services and enhance holistic care for our patients.

And that’s a wrap for ! 🎉 A big thank you to everyone who spoke with us and helped celebrate apprenticeships across the Trust over the past week.

We were proud to hold an awards ceremony celebrating 38 colleagues who have successfully completed their apprenticeships in the last year – congratulations to you all!

We’re also delighted to share that we are now supporting a record 209 apprenticeships across the Trust – the highest number we have ever achieved.

Throughout the week, our teams have also visited local schools to speak with students and parents about the fantastic opportunities apprenticeships can offer.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this week such a success.

Our Heart Clinic, delivered by our cardiology team, is celebrating its first anniversary after launching on Valentine’s Day 2025. ❤️

The clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team, led by consultants and specialist nurses, to provide joined-up care and support for patients with heart conditions.

Looking ahead, the clinic is expanding to include onsite psychological and pain management support where needed. There are also plans to introduce onsite testing to help diagnose conditions such as microvascular angina and coronary spasm.

If you are a patient living with angina and have any questions about the clinic, please speak to a member of staff at your next appointment.

If your loved one is nearly ready to leave hospital, our team will contact you ahead of discharge to work with you to help them return home as quickly and safely as possible.

This may include discussing ongoing care, arranging equipment, or preparing for their return home. Simple steps, such as checking essentials are in and making sure the heating is on, can help make their journey home more comfortable.

Sometimes patients may need to wait a little longer for medication or transport. When this happens, they may be cared for in our discharge lounge, helping us make beds available for other patients who need hospital care.
