It’s not something people would immediately think of but with the temperatures set to rise again next week, it’s worth sharing. 2 years ago this baby suffered 2nd degree burns over 30% of his body from being accidentally sprayed with a garden hose and firefighters have issued a fresh warning recently.
Hoping to prevent this type of accident from happening again, the fire department warned: “A garden hose exposed to direct sunlight during summer can heat the water inside the hose (not flowing) to 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit which can cause burns especially to children & animals.
Let the water flow a few minutes to cool before spraying on people or animals"
Edit: Thank you to everyone who has shared this message. Whilst this image is distressing to some (including myself 😢), baby Nicholas reportedly recovered with no permanent scarring. The incident took place in Arizona, where temperatures can often be in the high 30s. Whilst temperatures in the UK may not reach those highs, this will be important to remember when temperatures in the coming week (and in the future) rise in the 30s, and certainly for those of you travelling somewhere hot this summer. Please be safe in the sun ☀️🙌🏼
