FND Peer Support Hi,
My Name is Karla. I was diagnosed with FND in December 2023, and like many of you, I am sure, it turned my life upside down in a heartbeat.

This support page has been developed to assist individuals and carers of those diagnosed with Functional Neurological Dissorder (FND), share common issues and come together to support each other. Since the beginning of symptoms to gaining an official diagnosis took approximately 6 months however, since diagnosis, it was evident that the hard work was only just beginning. I Suffer with seizures on

a daily basis (anywhere up to 17 in one night), require the use of a wheel chair and i am no longer able to drive
I found that from diagnosis, there was very little support for those that are affected, especially at a local level, and wanted to firstly set up a facebook community and a physical peer support group for those diagnosed, and also for those carrying out the caring roles.

Some exciting news.
We are currently in discussions to potentially open a space designed as a support centre and charity shop, with all proceeds helping to support the face to face Peer Support service and online/virtual suppprt that we currently offer.
With this in mind we are kindly looking for donations of items that you no longer use or want, but may be of some us to others.

Good morning everyone,
As a charity, we need to be accountable for the use of funds and how money is being spent.
With that in mind, we wanted to gauge the feelings of the users of our services.
We have the opportunity of moving the groups back to Tuesday at Bullion Hall, Chester Le Street, however before we commit to this we wanted to ensure that this service would be used, or whether a more virtual approach would be better suited, with video calls, teams, etc.
Can people please comment on whether they would prefer face to face groups or virtual, and whether they would be attending the groups etc.
Hosting groups can become expensive and to only have one or two turn up is not financially viable and we want to secure the longevity of the charity for all. Unfortunately we have already had to make the difficult decision to cut the Spennymoor group.

Hello everybody just to let you know due to not a lot of people turning up for our Monday meetings at the solan centre we are stopping them we will still be able to support you over the phone or if you need face to face support until we find a suitable venue also I would like to mention that our Wednesday meetings are going back to a Tuesday and we will be at Bullion Hall in Chester Le Street from the 31st of march still from 11am - 1pm thank you for your support
