Mr Kevin Baker of Hasland has sadly passed away, aged 52.

Born in Clay Cross and a lifelong local resident, Kevin was a warehouse distribution operator.

His interests included football, pool, cooking, pub skittles and socialising.

Kevin leaves his mum Gwen, dad Colin and brother Martin, sister Amanda and Neice Lilly Hellen

The funeral service is due to take place on Monday 1st December, Hoults Service Chapel, Market Street, Clay Cross at 11.30am.

Mrs Joan Percival has sadly passed away at New Bassett house, Shirebrook, Aged 90.

Born in Carr Vale, Joan was a local resident for 65 years. Joan a factory worker until having a family and becoming a housewife.

In her sparetime Joan enjoyed gardening, Knitting, walking, crosswords and reading.

Predeceased by her late husband Graham, Joan leaves behind children Stephen, Jennifer and Catherine along with grandchildren Scott, Nathan, Aiden, great granddaughter Rosie and Joan’s sister Joyce.

The funeral is due to take place on Thursday 4th December, The Chapel, Market Street, Clay Cross at 11.00am followed by burial in Danesmoor Cemetery at 11.40am.

Mrs Lynda May Hall of Pilsley has sadly passed away at Ashgate Hospice, aged 80.

Born in Mill Hill, London, Lynda was a local resident for 76 years living in Holymoorside Wingerworth before settling in Pilsley.

Her working life started on her parent’s farm, working in the farm shop as a manager then later becoming a driving instructor.

Lynda had a love for Dalmatian’s and Labradors, sewing, knitting, cross stitch and taking holidays.

Lynda leaves behind her husband John, children Raymond, Jenny and Elizabeth along with grandchildren Ben, Luke, Martha, Althea, Zoe, Hannah, Katherine, Emily, Paul And her brother Geoffrey.

The funeral service is due to take place on Tuesday 25th November, St Paul’s Church Hasland at 10.50am followed by committal at Chesterfield Crematorium at 11.50am.

Donations in memory of Lynda will be given to Ashgate Hospice.

Mrs Jean Beastall of Clay Cross has sadly passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 77.

Born Chesterfield and a lifelong local resident.

Retiring in 2008 from her role as a mid-day supervisor at Tupton Hall School for 27 years. Jean loved spending time with her family especially on family holidays.

Jean leaves behind her husband George, daughters Clare, Sarah and Julie along with grandsons Nathan and Oscar. Son-in-laws John, Tony and Lee. Sister Sandra and brothers Graham and Alan.

The funeral service is due to take place on Thursday 27th November at 11.30am St Bartholomew’s Church, Clay Cross followed by burial in Danesmoor Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Jean will be given to Diabetes UK.

Mrs Betty May Billam of Lower Pilsley has sadly passed away at home aged 83 years.

Betty was born in Lower Pilsley and has lived there all her life.

She worked as a upholsterer- worked at Reeves Burgess and then Frank Guys until her retirement.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, embroidery, baking and knitting.

Betty sadly leaves her husband Robert, her daughter Tina and son-in-law Terry, grandsons Chris and Jake, their partners Sophie and Leonie, also 7 great grandchildren.

The funeral service is due to take place on Wednesday 26th November 2025 at Chesterfield Crematorium at 12.50pm.

Ang and family would like to express her sincere thanks to everyone who attended the funeral for Steve.

Mr Douglas Jackson of Heath has sadly passed away at home aged 91 years.

Douglas was born in Holmewood and was a local resident in Chesterfield for 91 years.

Douglas worked as a miner.

He enjoyed birds, gardening, fishing, chicken keeper, animal lover and watching Only Fools and Horses.

Douglas was predeceased by his wife Marion Jackson, and he leaves his children Colin, David, Alan, Shirley, Andrew and Wendy and Martin
14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Mrs Christine Alton of Grassmoor has sadly passed away at home with her family by her side aged 82 years.

Christine was born in Chesterfield and has lived locally for 60 years.

She retired from Richard Daniels approximately twenty-five years ago and then became a housewife.

Christine enjoyed socialising, listening to music, gardening, singing and spending time with her family.

Christine was predeceased by her husband Keith Alton, and leaves her children Julie, Gary and Kaye, also 3 grandchildren.

The funeral service is due to take place on Thursday 13th November 2025 at St Paul’s Church, Hasland at 11.00am followed by burial.

Gillian was a retired nurse.

She enjoyed reading, watching tv, and spending time with her family.

Gillian was predeceased by her husband Colin Parsey, and leaves her children Mark, Elaine, Philip and Alison. 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
