๐Ÿ’™Our annual Memorial Service will be held at the Casa Hotel on Sunday, 12 April from 3pm.

๐Ÿ’™We are inviting anyone who would like to honour the memory of a baby born sleeping or a child to attend.

๐Ÿ’™This service has taken place for over three decades and each year we are incredibly humbled by those who attend and share with us the love for their children in a safe and supported space.

๐Ÿ’™Families are welcome to attend, and, along with listening to readings from representatives of the Trust and songs from the hospital choir, can commemorate their loss in a book, light candles and pay tribute with their loved ones.

๐Ÿ’™We encourage all families to take home a packet of seeds to plant and grow as a memory.

๐Ÿ’™There is no need to book to attend this event and all family members are welcome. There is a crafting table for siblings to sit with a play therapist.

๐Ÿ’™Thank you to Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust Charity for supporting this event.

๐Ÿซ€ Heart diseases affect around 2% of pregnant women (around 16,700 women in England and Wales in 2022). Current evidence is limited because most research studies are small and based only in specialist centres.

๐Ÿฉท PREG-HEART changes this by enabling women from anywhere in the UK to join online, provide their health information and permission for long-term follow-up by using their NHS records.

๐Ÿ“ฒ Women can enrol online in just a few minutes, and take part in the study from the comfort of their own home, making it easier to participate compared to research studies that take place in hospitals.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Their involvement will help researchers build the evidence needed to improve care, identify risks earlier and make pregnancy safer for mothers and babies nationwide.

๐Ÿ’™ THANK YOU ๐Ÿ’™

Following the success of our recent knitted breast appeal, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the initiative.

We have been truly amazed by the generosity shown - not only from our local community, but from people across the country who took the time to get involved.

Your colourful and beautifully crafted knitted and crocheted breasts will play an important role in helping our midwives teach vital breastfeeding and infant feeding skills to new parents. Each item donated will directly support families during one of the most important times in their lives.

Aimee and Siobhan from the Infant Feeding Team said;
โ€œWe would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has responded to us - we have been overwhelmed with the response. We are extremely grateful to each and every person who has taken the time to crochet and knit breasts for us.โ€

Thank you once again for your kindness, creativity, and willingness to support your local hospital. Your contributions will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the families we care for.

Following a competitive recruitment process, with support from partners, we are now very pleased to announce that our new Chair will be Jackie Smith.

Jackie brings six years of experience chairing NHS organisations across acute, mental health, community, and specialist services, and a track record of leading Boards through complex transformation, strengthening governance processes, and driving organisational reform in complex and politically sensitive environments across healthcare, policing, and professional regulation.

She was formerly the Chair of Queen Victoria Hospital, where she has led the organisation through post-pandemic recovery, workforce challenges, and system integration. Prior to this, Jackie was the Chair of Camden and Islington NHS FT and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Trust, a joint leadership role for two major London mental health providers where she led improvement of governance and risk processes and built influential relationships with system partners to enable improvement.

Jackie is the former CEO of the UK's largest healthcare regulator, the Nursing and Midwifery Council; in this role she led significant organisational transformation, and delivered major reforms such as revalidation, and restored financial stability.

Jackie lives locally and is a keen runner and supporter of charities.

Carol Warren, Lead Governor, commented: โ€œThe appointment of Chair is one which is led by the Governors; and I am delighted to welcome Jackie to the role. Throughout the process Jackieโ€™s commitment to the care of patients and colleagues, aligned very much to our values, shone through. I very much look forward to working with her.โ€

Dr Hal Spencer, Chief Executive, said: โ€œ I enjoyed meeting Jackie during the appointments process and speaking with her when I accompanied her on a tour of site to show her some of the good work we are doing. I look forward to working with her as Chair of our Trust and I know that Jackieโ€™s values, experience, and strong track record will be a welcome addition to our board.

โ€œIโ€™d also like to take this opportunity to thank Jayne Stringfellow for stepping so effectively into the role of Interim Chair during the last few months and I know that she will support a smooth transition as Jackie begins in this role.โ€

We will confirm Jackieโ€™s starting date in due course.
