Protein + Calcium + Fibre = Nutrition wins!!

Breakfast is a very important meal of the day, charging you up and filling your body with all of the nutrition it needs to power through the day!

Peri-menopausal women listen up…. Fluctuations of Oestrogen and Progesterone can affect how cells respond to Insulin. We need to control our blood sugars. By including a nutritionally balanced breakfast can help to maintain blood sugar balance, control cravings and snacking and keep your body full until lunchtime!!!!

In this bowl we have
Cherries and Blueberries (turning the Greek yoghurt pink!!)
Greek yoghurt
Nuts
Seed mix thanks to daily 30+ which contains a wide variety of seeds and spices
made it the night before so I just grabbed and ran out the door this morning!!

For all the menopausal ladies out there… join us for this transformative workshop designed to support you through this powerful life stage.
This workshop will provide you with essential knowledge, tools and strategies to navigate peri-menopause and post-menopause with confidence and empowerment.
This session will give you chance to connect with other women going through the same life stage and will focus on keys aspects of wellness including nutrition, sleep, exercise and stress, providing invaluable techniques you can implement in your own life to calm the nervous system and reduce stress and anxiety levels. This is the perfect introduction to everything you need to manage the physical and emotional changes during these menopausal years.
At the end of the this workshop we will unwind and enjoy deep relaxation with a beautiful Yoga Nidra session led by Taryn, leaving you feeling grounded and rejuvenated.

Women spend most of their lifetime juggling hormones, starting with puberty and then all the way through to menopause. Through the ups and downs of each cycle we try and find peace.

It’s important to work with our natural cycles getting balance of those hormones that run wild if we let them.
There are ways to naturally find this balance and sometimes its the support of others that help you identify and overcome parts of your life that may be causing the imbalances.

Every woman is unique, and so is her menstrual cycle.
By supporting women through personal life transformations, they can create amazing relationships with their body and embrace their own natural rhythm, finding balance and peace.

So I came across these ‘healthy’ bars, which a friend bought from the supermarket, buying them from where she described as ‘the place where all the healthier snacks are’. Now she doesn’t have a sweet tooth and has a healthy lifestyle, she chose these snacks because of the clever marketing and position of this product in the supermarket.
She isn’t a Nutritionist or Health Coach and was easily sucked in by this clever marketing ploy, Im am sure she wont be the only one who bought this product with good intentions of eating healthier.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in the ingredients list. Yes they are gluten free, nut free and questionably fruity

BUT THEY ARE LOADED WITH SUGAR….

I feel frustrated that the company have sold this product on the basis that a ‘Personal Trainer’ and ‘Nutrition Advisor’ who ‘knows the value of eating healthy’ has recommended them as a ‘healthy snack’.
How could a Nutrition Advisor suggest that eating 24.7g of sugar in one snack is a good idea??? That equates to around 5 teaspoons of sugar?

Companies are creating and marketing these products on the basis that they are ‘healthy’. THEY ARE NOT.

The need for a healthy snack itself is a marketing ploy, companies are selling ‘healthy snacks’ to people who now ‘think’ they need a snack. You shouldn’t need to snack if your eating well at each meal, and if you do need to snack, eat an Avocado or a boiled egg! Crazy thought hey, eating a boiled egg as a snack….. but if you compare a simple boiled egg to this bar, you would be gaining double the protein, no highly processed sugary rubbish and saving money.

As a nation we are constantly being reminded about eating well, living well, and being healthier. Government incentives and programmes and pills are available to us through the over stretched NHS, and somewhere along the lines, alongside these costly interventions helping people ‘become healthier’ companies are allowed to to sell products like this to people.

I dont get it.

We don’t need rubbish, we need real food, less sugar and education.
Take care when your shopping guys, don’t let them trick you!!
