HELLO FELLOW SALON OWNERS ....
I wanted to share something with you that not only changed by business but myself and my team to...... MASSIVELY!!
I TO KNOW THE STRUGGLES OF RUNNING YOUR OWN SALON BUSINESS
since 2015 ive put my heart and every bit of energy and money into my salon business......
But I was doing ok, ticking over going threw staff like no tommorow and almost zero spare time ....
But it was back in 2020 when I realised I was putting all my money , energy and heart in the wrong places and realised why I was not growing but going round in circles.
WHY?,
Am glad you asked ......
You know when the scarisity comes in when you have to raise your prices , so we stick 50p on here and a pound there ? .......NO 👎
When you take on staff your all excited to grow but they don't upsell, there late or sick all the time or don't recommend retail , gossip , cause disruption, produce little cults and segregation between staff, clients feel it to? Any of these ringing a bell 🔔 🤔
we then beat down ourselves and moan to others of how staff are a pain in the ass , I keep telling them but nothing changes....
THEY ARE NOT ALLIGNED TO YOUR VALUES
But....how do we work out our values ?
How do we expect staff to know whats in our heads and our future and present mission for our business , when many of us don't know ourselves......many of us WING IT!!
We cannot run a successful bussines when we don't have an understanding of ourselves our mission and that of our staff
Even if you don't have staff yet ...even better get this in place so you hit the ground running .
How can we grow when.....
Fears of pricing for profits
Putting procations in place like decent % booking fees to limit no shows without conflict
Fear of loosing clients , so we bend over backwards to adhere to what the clients want , whilst gaining nothing ourselves!
Then we get mad , irritated some fall out of love for there career for the WRONG reasons !
Upgrades and retail sales are down because we don't realise ourselves/ staff or both have fears of being knock back, conflict, looking greedy , pushy, like a sales person .
God forbid 'Mary's been saying how much she's had to pay out and got little money , so I or staff didn't offer her the upgrade or retail ....assuming she can't afford it...MASSIVE MISTAKE!
this happens all to much were we ourselves or staff 'presume' what we think we know !
Did you know this is actually offensive and a massive NO NO
So how do we grow?
Not by skillset paying to send yourself or staff on course after course , I mean yes this is part of it ....but it will not work until the foundation of the mindset behind the chair is solid!

Respond not react ...so more calm to handle situations amd conflict whilst retaining a strong professional case.

Know your values
Understand each other and clients
And much more....
