We were proud to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Chorley, Councillor Alistair Morwood and Mrs Jane Morwood, along with Paul Foster, MP for South Ribble, to officially open our newly refurbished ward at Euxton Hall Hospital.

After the ribbon cutting, our guests enjoyed a tour of the hospital, meeting our brilliant staff, patients and Consultants, and seeing first‑hand the incredible work our teams do every single day.

This refurbishment is a major investment in the future of local healthcare and reflects our long‑term commitment to providing safe, modern and welcoming care for our community.

A huge thank you to our amazing teams for their dedication throughout this project.

🌟 Introducing Mr Rajeev Advani – ENT Specialist at Buckshaw Hospital 🌟

If recurring sore throats, breathing issues or sleep‑related problems are holding you back, a tonsillectomy could be the solution — and you’re in expert hands with Mr Rajeev Advani, Consultant ENT Surgeon.

👨‍⚕️ What is a Tonsillectomy?
A tonsillectomy is a quick (30–45 minute) procedure performed under general anaesthetic to remove troublesome tonsils. It’s commonly recommended for:
✔️ Recurrent tonsillitis and frequent sore throats
✔️ Breathing or swallowing difficulties caused by enlarged tonsils
✔️ Snoring and sleep apnoea

There are several safe and effective techniques, including traditional dissection and diathermy (using a high‑frequency electrical current).

⏳ Recovery – What to Expect
Most patients recover in about two weeks, with throat discomfort gradually easing day by day.

Here’s the typical recovery timeline:

Days 1–2:
• You may go home the same day or after an overnight stay
• Rest is essential
• Keep hydrated and start with soft foods before moving back to a normal diet

Days 3–4:
• Continue resting and drinking plenty
• Eating slightly rough foods (like toast or cereal) helps keep the healing area clean
• Taking pain relief before meals can make swallowing easier

Days 5–10:
• Yellow‑white scabs are normal and will fall off naturally
• Mild bleeding may occur — contact a doctor if it’s bright red or heavy
• Pain begins to ease and swallowing becomes more comfortable

Days 10–14:
• Most people feel a lot better
• Snoring caused by swollen tonsils usually settles
• Children can return to school; adults can go back to work
• Avoid strenuous activity for at least two weeks

✨ A little update from Euxton Hall… ✨

You may have noticed our beautiful building isn’t looking quite as glamorous as usual… but there’s a good reason! As a Grade II listed property, she requires specialist care — and right now, it’s the roof’s turn for some much‑needed TLC.

Scaffolding went up earlier this week and will remain in place for the next few months. Once the work is complete, she’ll be restored to her full historic beauty, ready to shine again in time for summer.

🏛️ Did you know?

Euxton Hall was originally built during the reign of Henry VIII and later rebuilt in 1739.

In 1849–50, it underwent significant alterations, including the addition of the striking Palladian West Front.

Once a prominent Catholic seat, the hall saw various changes throughout the 20th century, including the removal of its upper floor, before beginning its new life as a hospital.

In 1983, this historic home of the Anderton family officially became Euxton Hall Independent Hospital.

Today, we’re proud to be a 22‑bedroom hospital with 3 theatres, part of Ramsay Health Care UK. We specialise in elective surgery, particularly orthopaedics, as well as general surgery, gynaecology, pain management, and our very own GP service.

Thank you for your patience while our beloved building gets her makeover — we can’t wait to show her off again soon! 💙
