The Elizabethan Lodge

The Elizabethan Lodge The Elizabethan Lodge page of events and things happening. “It was proposed by W. Bro. H.H.S. Bishopp and seconded by W. W. Arthur Vale, the S.W., Bro. L.T.

Whittingham and unanimously confirmed by the Brethren present that the Worshipful Master and Wardens of Twynham Lodge sign a Petition in open Lodge, for the founding of a new Lodge to be formed in Christchurch. The Petition was duly signed by the W.M., W. Thompson and the J.W., Bro. W.E. Poole. A.C.G. Seaward, on behalf of the proposed Founders of the proposed Lodge, thanked the W.M. and Brethren of Twynham Lodge for the signing of the Petition.”

With this entry began a new era in the history of Freemasonry in Christchurch which culminated in the Founding of the new Lodge on 20th April, 1953. Much thought had been given to the naming of the new Lodge and a combination of events led to the final choice. A new Queen had ascended the throne during the previous year, giving rise to the era of “The New Elizabethans” and a very fine aeroplane named “The Elizabethan” had been built by a local company, [Airspeed Aircraft] in Christchurch. As a number of the proposed Founders were also associated with the aircraft industry in Christchurch, the choice made, “The Elizabethan Lodge”, was almost inevitable.

Last night we hosted a "What we do" evening at Christchurch Masonic Centre. We invited, friends, partners, family members and prospective Masons to join us in the lodge room where we explained what we wear, what we do as a fraternity, how this benefits members and the local and even global community and a little bit about our roles in the lodge. There was time for Q&A and most importantly a lot of fun both in the lodge and at the festive board afterwards where we raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Last week, 10 of the brethren from The Elizabethan Lodge 7262 visited The Knole in Bournemouth to support Bourne Lodge.
We paraded into the Temple, and our Assistant Secretary had the honour of delivering the tools for Bourne Lodge.

Afterwards, plenty of fun was had at the Festive Board—and most importantly, a fantastic sum was raised for charity.

This month, The Elizabethan Lodge 7262 proudly initiated Brothers George and Matt in a memorable double initiation.

The entire 7262 team put in a fantastic effort to deliver a powerful and polished ceremony — and the electric atmosphere carried on into the Festive Board downstairs, where we enjoyed a special Jewish-themed menu in honour of our Worshipful Master and the Jewish New Year. 🍽️✨

Yes, Freemasons give generously to charity.
Yes, we’re committed to personal growth and lifelong learning.
Yes, we look out for each other.

But above all — it’s great fun, and there’s always plenty of laughter.

Curious about Freemasonry?
Drop us a DM — we’ve got a special Visitors’ Meeting in October where you can come along and get a feel for what we’re all about.

Visiting other Lodges is always a highlight of Freemasonry.
Last night, I had the pleasure of visiting the Lodge of Honour and Friendship in Blandford, a Lodge with nearly 200 years of rich history.

It was their annual Farmer’s Night, where brethren bid on local produce and raffle prizes—all in support of local charities. As you can see, I didn’t manage to keep my hand down much!

A big thank you to Brother Ible for the kind invitation and warm hospitality.

If you’ve ever been curious about Freemasonry, you might be surprised to learn we’re more open than you think. There are often public events where non-Masons are welcome to come along, ask questions, and see what we're all about.

If you enjoy learning, value tradition, and want to give back to your community, Freemasonry could be a great fit. Drop us a message to start the conversation.

Bro Jake Taylor our Charity Steward and Bro Chris Armstrong (Asst Sec) took time out today to meet the team at Water Lily Project and hear how this excellent local charity support those experiencing domestic violence. Elizabethan Lodge sent them a bank transfer on the spot and this amount we learned was exactly what they actually needed to replace some equipment which failed this week. We will continue to support the Waterlily project and other local charities. Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable giving organisations in the country. Myth busting - Freemasons are not all Christian. Freemasonry is as diverse as it is evenly spread across the globe and welcomes members of all faiths. What we have in common is we all believe in a higher power no matter what you call him. This September our 1st meeting back after summer, we have arranged a very special Jewish themed menu at our festive board to honour our WM's culture and give the members a chance to try a different cultures food. If you are interested in becoming a Freemason we are more than happy to answer questions and have a chat. Drop us a DM and we will connect you with our membership officer.
