Emily qualified as a Chiropractor in 2019 following 5 years of study doing her Masters at the University of South Wales. She then went on to complete a Professional Diploma of Animal Chiropractic in 2020. Emily is an instructor at the College of Animal Chiropractic - Options For Animals, which is an accredited course teaching veterinarians and chiropractors.

Case Study: The Twitchy, Itchy Cat🐈

Adorable W***y presented with severe back twitching & scratching. His owner noticed it flare when his pelvis or neck locked, & previous chiropractic care helped. The vet diagnosed arthritis.🦴

Findings:
• Restricted motion in his lower back (common trigger for twitching)
• Stiff pelvis & sacrum
• Cervicothoracic tension
• Over-reactive skin twitch response
• Wonky sitting posture → improved immediately after treatment😺

Treatment included gentle soft tissue work, mobilisations & specific adjustments — aiming to restore motion, calm the nervous system, & reduce scratching (not “fix arthritis”).📉

Twitching & over-grooming in cats aren’t always behavioural — often there’s a mechanical & neurological driver underneath.🥼

Horses skin & fascia responds differently to tape than a human’s skin. Horse’s hair-follicle – fascial – neural network is uniquely sensitive.🥹
I use Kinesio tape in practice to advantage treatments – making horses happier & more comfortable.😌

Calling all British Chiropractic Association members and others who have messaged today. Please do your research if you are looking into learning animal chiropractic.

It's really important to separate fact from fiction.

The Essentials in Animal Chiropractic course is the only diversified chiropractic course which is recognised at all exit points by the The Royal College of Chiropractors - that means that you can progress your membership with them as far as FRCC, by attaining a diploma or masters level course with us. Simply being "recognised" by the RCC isn't really telling you anything.

Options for Animals is also an accredited education provider with RAMP-Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners. This means that successful completion of the course leads to automatic eligibility with RAMP. A "recognised education provider" doe not mean the same thing.

The RCVS do not "recognise" any specific course in animal chiropractic. Veterinarians, like human chiropractors, are required to gain CPD hours ever year. Therefore, if you are a vet and undertake an animal chiropractic course then these hours will be recognised for CPD purposes.

Options for Animals is also accredited by IVCA - International Veterinary Chiropractic Association which is necessary for some parts of the globe when practicing chiropractic on animals.
