Enjoy the experience of being alive.
That was the purpose statement that I came up with during my first teacher training with Larry 25 years ago. It actually Dorothy from the center of excellence I met through Larry, but that is a whole other story…
I never had dreams of toes touching my head or splits or anything. The smiling face photo was taken by the daughter of my first private client in San Francisco. My dentist! She noticed the change in me and asked me to teach her! One day I came in for my teeth cleaning, and she said. “Amme, I have to ask you. What have you been doing? I’ve been wanting to ask you because I have seen how you have changed over the last two years.” She changed my life just by noticing how I had changed with yoga. Also I discovered Abraham hicks from a taxi driver on the way to party at her house!
It’s been a while since I’ve done a deep post, and even longer since I’ve sent out one of my very unique deep emails, I know. But sometimes you have to think about stuff and sometimes you have to do stuff and sometimes you have no idea what’s going on and you feel like you’re just waiting around. This is life. The Pava chakra. And we keep coming back to the middle. But you have to ask yourself what is the middle?
Now that my hips are made of titanium, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do for the next 50 years.
I don’t want to get good at yoga. I want to party. At least until sunset. And do yoga of course, but just for the fun of it. Joseph Campbell said, “if you really want to help the world, you need to teach people how to live in it. You need to teach people how to participate joyfully in the sorrows of this world.”
Obvs I’m chilling the next couple of weeks while my new titanium hips settle, but 2026 is looking hot, and it has me thinking… what am I teaching? It’s not a yoga sequence it’s a state of mind. It’s meditation. It’s prana. Learn to focus your mind and your body. And have fun FFS!!!
Thanks for my new fave mantra:
What’s the best that could happen?
