It’s know as green sauce in our house,
and is a staple of many nations - an accompaniment to fish, steak chicken, potatoes, or in my case- an omelette!
Whatever you call it, it’s a brilliant way to include lots of herbs into your meals.
Parsley
Mint
Basil
Chives
Dandelion leaves…
Together with cold pressed olive oil, garlic, lemon zest and juice and a whole host of other options,
It’s a powerhouse of nutrients and a great way to include herbs in large quantities for an antioxidant hit.
My go to is salsa verde - sometimes with a little chilli, 🌶️ chimichurri style. Salsa Verde
2 handfuls parsley
1 handful mint
1 clove garlic
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp capers
1/2 lemon (juice and zest)
100ml (ish) olive oil
Maldon salt (to taste)
Place the ingredients in a food processor and blend until a smooth sauce. Store in the fridge in a sealed jam jar for up to 3-4 days.

September is PCOS awareness month.
1 in 10 women are affected by PCOS
Many of the women with PCOS I see have often been put on the contraceptive pill when they’re younger to regulate their periods, in theory this is fine and dandy until you stop to start trying for a family at which point things may become more complicated.
A PCOS diagnosis may also come with advice to lose weight, which is often easier said than done because of the many factors influencing the condition.
Because we are all different PCOS often presents in different ways in each of us but nutrition and lifestyle can be hugely helpful.

Yasmin and I have been working together over 3 months to improve her gut health which was impacting her life in so many more ways than she thought. Read on to find out how she got on and what she thought of the process…

What was life like before we started working together?
Before I started working on my gut health with Angela I was tired most of the time, I was sleeping 8 hours a night but still didn’t feel like I had enough energy, I was irritable and angry about small things around me, concentration was difficult and I was more often than not anxious about things that I could not control.

What was the process of working with me like?
The process has been fascinating to me, I have learned so much about my gut health. The changes have been manageable but so effective. When I have asked a question I have received a knowledgeable response straight away.

What changes are you most happy with?
My energy levels and my general mood. I am I overall so much happier than I was. I didn’t realise that the irritability was having such a big impact on every aspect of my life.
I had made lots of changes to my diet before working with Angela and believed I was generally healthy, but the information I gained helped me to actually make relevant and more effective changes which I would not have known about before. I also did not expect that there would be a direct improvement to my mental health as well as physical, so I am very happy with this.

What would you say to someone thinking of working with me?
It is so worth the time and investment, I do not have much disposable income myself but am so happy I prioritised this process. The results have been better than I could have imagined - thank you so much 😊

Thanks Yasmin it’s been a pleasure working with you and seeing the difference in you now 🩷

My favourite spot to sit and listen to the birds. My bit of self care on a dog walk when the dogs are off doing their thing, today it was chasing after a deer, so I had a while to sit and enjoy it 😊.
What do you like to do for some self care? X

This lovely client success story shows just how much can be achieved in only 3 months of targeted nutrition and lifestyle. We are both delighted with the results!

"Please don't think twice about contacting Angela.

Her work with me has been transformational. When we started working together, I had lots of inflammation and food intolerances, chronic shoulder pain and was incredibly stressed most of the time.

I am now pretty much pain free, my stress levels are very low and my inflammation is almost non-existent. Angela took full account of my lifestyle when making recommendations and gave lots of time and care to my treatment. I am certain I wouldn't have made this progress without her.

The zoom meetings were a brilliant way to work together and I would definitely work with her again."

A recent study found that changing microbes in our gut may be an indicator of health and life span. The study showed that those who were healthier tended to show a change in the type of dominant microbes in the gut over the years.
While those with an unhealthy lifestyle, continued to exhibit the same types of bacteria.

While more research is needed the study findings indicated that a changing microbiome is key to healthy aging.

So much of our health is dependant on the health of our gut and digestive issues are one of the biggest signs your gut isn’t functioning optimally – including bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhoea and heartburn.

Your gut may also be to blame if you’ve been struggling with sleep or low mood. Even acne and eczema maybe due to an unhappy digestive system.

Here are my top tips for supporting your gut health:

Eat more veg

Stay hydrated

Cut down on sugar

Chew your food thoroughly

Go to bed at a reasonable time every night.

If you are suffering any kind of digestive issues I can help! Book yourself in for a complimentary consultation

Happy Friday!

I just received a lovely email with this comment from a client I worked with a year or so ago. It was so nice to hear that she continues to do well, as she was suffering from very debilitating digestive issues, which meant her life was becoming more and more restricted.
So I guess the message is if you or a loved one have been suffering with poor health - you don’t have to - I can help!

Here we go again...

Banana Bread
110g butter or coconut oil, melted
4 ripe bananas
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
275g ground almonds or wholemeal or GF flour
3-4 tbsp milk of choice if using wholemeal/GF flour
Preheat the oven to 180c/ GM 4
Mix all of the wet ingredients together and fold in the dry ingredients.
Pour into a 2lb loaf tin lined with baking parchment and bake for 50 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.
Allow to cool slightly, then remove from the tin and allow to cool fully.

This is lovely with raspberry chia seed jam:
200g raspberries
lemon juice
2 1/2 - 3 tbsps chia seeds
Put the raspberries with the juice of half a lemon in a saucepan, break up the raspberries with a potato masher and bring to a simmer.
Pour into a bowl and add the chia seeds. Stir well and then stir every 5 minutes a couple more times, so that the jam begins to set. Serve with the banana bread or refrigerate until needed.
