We were so kindly invited to watch The Colne Community Schools production of Matilda today, and what a fantastic morning it was!🎭

Residents from Stronvar Rest Home were picked up and dropped off by the school’s minibus, which was such a thoughtful touch!

The students were absolutely incredible – so much talent, energy and confidence on stage. We are so grateful to have been included. Being part of our wider community is incredibly important to us, and opportunities like this really do mean a lot.🌟

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take many photos due to school safeguarding guidelines, but it was a truly wonderful morning✨️

❤️ Valentine’s Crafting at Stronvar Rest Home ❤️

Today our residents got creative making beautiful Valentine’s decorations! 💕

Using cut-out hearts (with two little holes!) and threading them onto string, they carefully created their own lovely garlands – and didn’t they do a fantastic job! 👏✨

It was a wonderful activity for keeping hands busy and minds focused, with lots of smiles along the way.

And… peep the happy manager giving his seal of approval! 👍😊

🕯️ Creative Candle Crafts Today 🕯️

Today we enjoyed a lovely, calm crafting session here in the home, getting ready for a very special visit tomorrow. This month’s candle theme has been chosen by our local church ahead of their home communion visit tomorrow, and we’ve been busy creating decorations to reflect it.

Residents made beautiful candle decorations by sticking coloured cellophane onto card cut-outs. The finished pieces look just like glowing stained-glass candles and have brightened up our windows wonderfully. ✨

One of our residents also chose to colour in some candle pictures, adding their own creative touch and enjoying a peaceful bit of colouring time. 🎨

It’s been a gentle, meaningful afternoon filled with colour, conversation, and smiles — all while keeping activities safe, relaxed, and enjoyable for everyone. ⭐️

This week at Stronvar Rest Home has been full of creativity, movement and colour! 🎨✨

On Monday, our residents decorated beautiful wind chimes🎐, creating some lovely sounds and personalised designs. These will be moved to the garden when the weather warms up🌞
Yesterday, we started the morning with a fun word game 🧠🗣️, where we picked a theme and thought of words we associate with it—lots of great ideas and laughs! We then moved on to a relaxing chair yoga session 🧘‍♀️ to stretch, move and unwind.
Today, we made bright tissue paper flowers 🌼🌺 to cut out and decorate the home, adding a splash of colour.

It’s been wonderful to see everyone getting involved, chatting, laughing and showing off their artistic flair 💛😊 We love creating meaningful activities that bring joy, creativity and a little sparkle to each day ✨

Last week at Stronvar Rest Home was full of fun and friendly competition! 🎯

Our residents enjoyed a lounge competition with darts, ring toss and head basketball – lots of laughter, cheering and impressive skills on display!

On Saturday, we slowed things down with a word games activity pack, which everyone really enjoyed. It was a great way to keep minds active and spark some lovely conversations.

We love seeing our residents getting involved and having fun together 💙

✨ This week at Stronvar Rest Home ✨
It’s been another lovely, creative week for our residents here at Stronvar Rest Home 💛

🎨 Monday: We began creating some beautiful artwork for the upcoming Winterfest Art Exhibition taking place in a few weeks at Brightlingsea Museum. We’re hoping to submit three pieces for display! Our residents enjoyed colouring in local favourites including Batemans Tower and All Saints Church 🖼️
🌿 Tuesday: We made a start on some gorgeous flower wreaths for our doors 🌸 Although we still have a few more to make, it’s such a lovely (and very timely!) activity — even if cutting out all the leaves takes a little while 🍃
This became an impromptu activity after our entertainment sadly cancelled just half an hour before they were due to arrive, but our residents still had a brilliant day and enjoyed doing something different 😊
🧁 Today: We finished off the week by decorating delicious cupcakes, which we enjoyed with a nice cup of tea ☕💛

A huge well done and thank you to everyone for their creativity and teamwork ✨

✨ Activities at Stronvar Rest Home ✨

Our residents enjoyed getting creative whilst decorating beautiful sun catcher window decorations 🌈☀️ — a lovely activity that not only brightens up our home, but also supports fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and self-expression.
We also held a friendly Darts Competition this morning 🎯👏 and it was wonderful to see our residents getting involved and cheering each other on! Darts is a fantastic activity for supporting coordination, reflexes, focus and confidence, and it’s always wonderful to see everyone joining in and encouraging one another. A huge well done to everyone who took part! 💛😊

Next week is set to be another busy one here at Stronvar, with plenty of activities planned to keep everyone smiling and engaged. 💛

💙 Giving Back to Our Local Community 💙

We are incredibly proud of our team at Stronvar Rest Home, who chose to make a donation instead of exchanging Christmas cards this year 🎄✨
Thanks to their kindness, a £40 donation was made to Brightlingsea First Responders, who do such vital work supporting our community when it matters most.
A huge thank you to Steve and the team for their lovely message and for everything you do — we’re so grateful to be able to support you 💙
