I’ve been looking back through my photos today and it’s hit me how much I miss running… especially those warm summer runs.
The lighter evenings. The fresh air. The feeling of freedom. The version of me that felt calmer, stronger and more like me.

Right now it’s winter, it’s cold, it’s dark — and if I’m honest, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. Running hasn’t felt easy, natural or joyful the way it once did.

But scrolling through these memories has reminded me how important it is to me. How much I miss that feeling. And how much I want to find my way back.

So this is me putting it out there:
I need to get back outside.
No pressure. No expectations.
Just gentle miles, fresh air, and doing it for my head as much as my body.

Here’s to slow starts, brighter days ahead, and finding my feet again one run at a time 🧡🏃‍♂️

Foot got the all-clear ✅ X-ray came back clean, so the excuses ran out too.

My head didn’t want to go this morning, but I laced up anyway. First kilometre felt heavy, legs sulked, mind argued… and then the rhythm arrived. It was hard, but so rewarding. Proud of the show-up today. 🏃‍♂️✨

If your brain’s saying “not today”, start small and start anyway. You’ll thank yourself at the finish.

Another visit to the gym today and wow, I needed that. 🧠💪
Head felt noisy, body felt heavy… 45 minutes later, the fog lifted. Movement really is medicine. Not chasing PBs—just showing up, breathing, sweating, and leaving lighter than I arrived. If your brain’s being a bit of a muppet today, a simple session might help. You’ve got this. ✨

How did you move today?

Back in the gym today with Gayle — exactly what I needed for my mental health. Even with an injured foot, I still managed some lower body strength work, and honestly I really enjoyed it. Movement is medicine, even when it’s not the kind you’d choose.

✨ Starting again, one step at a time.

I’ve jumped back into the Couch to 5K programme and ticked off my second run at the gym today 🏃‍♂️. Since coming off one of my mental health meds (with my doctor’s support), my legs feel so much lighter — no more running through treacle!

After the run, I hit the leg press for some strength work 💪. Mixing running with strength training is helping me rebuild stronger and avoid injuries as I start this journey again.

On a different note, I saw my orthopaedic surgeon last week. After injuring my wrist a couple of years ago in a cycling fall, I’ll be having ligament reconstruction surgery. I’m now on the waiting list, which looks like about six months ⏳. Not ideal, but I’m glad to finally have a plan in place.

It feels good to be moving forward — in running, in recovery, and in life 🙌.

🦇 Batman took on the Great North Run yesterday… and somehow survived the cape!

I finally wore the costume I was meant to run the London Marathon in earlier this year. Honestly, I’m so glad I didn’t wear it in London because it would’ve been unbearable in that heat. Even in Newcastle, the cape was a mission in itself.

This was my slowest GNR yet. I’ve not been in the best place mentally, so training hasn’t been where I wanted it to be. It ended up being more of a walk than a run, and pretty gruelling at times.

But here’s the thing — I still crossed that finish line. Job done ✅ And I’ve got to say, I really do like this year’s medal with the River Wear and Sunderland on it 🤣

Sometimes the win is just showing up and getting it done, no matter the pace.

🧠 Sometimes a run can’t fix everything.

Lately, I’ve not been running much at all — truthfully, I’ve been struggling to find the motivation. I’ve been feeling constantly tired and completely rundown. Bloods have come back normal, which is good, but it’s left me wondering if my meds might be playing a part. It’s something I’ll be discussing with my doctor soon, and I’m hoping it’s something we can get to the bottom of. 🤞

On a brighter note, my FND has been behaving — I’ve gone 5 weeks without a seizure, and I’m genuinely chuffed about that. Next goal: 6 months seizure-free so I can finally get my driving license back. That would be a massive win. 🚗

For now, I’m giving myself space to rest, reflect and take care of my mind and body — and that’s okay. You don’t have to be smashing miles to be making progress. 💬

🌅 This evening, I sat on the balcony and watched the sun melt into the horizon. The soft sound of the sea crashing on the rocks below was like a gentle lullaby. Above me, the sky shifted—yellow, then orange, then a deep, calming purple.

As I sipped my tea, a feeling washed over me. Peace. True, quiet, unshakable peace. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt that. And I liked it… I liked it very much. ✨
