How good is this!… recent rehab graduate is literally back on the horse! After 6 months of rehab at CSMC for a total hip replacement Iona made her comeback to x-country over the weekend! 👏🏽🔥🙌🏽

CSMC Director, Physio Matthew has his folks visiting from Australia! 🇦🇺 They were welcomed to the clinic with their own personalised shirts! Then Physio Antoine started PT training with Papa Look and Matthew delivered knee replacement rehab to his Mum. They are a friendly bunch and if you’re around the clinic when they are in for training over the next few weeks you’ll be caught up in conversation no doubt!

At the end of his PT session, Physio Antoine was challenged to an arm wrestle… who do you think came out victorious? Have your vote, then check back in a few days when we release the footage to find out! 😉

A couple clips of late stage ACL rehab with yesterday. Tom is 10months post surgery and preparing for return to rugby. If you are returning to a multidirectional sport, it is critical to include non-linear movements in your rehabilitation, especially at high intensity. Things like curved sprinting, cutting and change of direction, decelerations into pivots are all skills that need to be trained deliberately.

At CSMC you will receive more than generic exercises on a sheet of paper. We will work with you 1:1 from early days in the gym all the way to pitch-based rehab to make sure you get exactly what you need to get back to your sport or physical pursuit.

Over the past two weeks CSMC Director, Physio Matthew delivered lectures to the Anglia Ruskin University MSc. Physiotherapy students on concussion. He presented the latest research on the physiology and biomechanics of concussion, management strategies and return to play principles, and discussed some of his own research on concussion in professional rugby. Hopefully the students were inspired to learn more about this topical subject.

Matthew also delivers concussion workshops to GP clinics, sports teams and schools. If you’d like to upskill your staff / team on concussion reach out via email at matthew.look@csmc.health

CSMC Director, Physio Matthew, is back home for a few weeks. First on the agenda was a trip down to Canberra to meet with the Director of Performance Systems at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), Miranda Menaspà and the Head Physio of the AIS, Jen Cooke. He also met with the Wallabies Head Physio Byron Field and got to watch Super Rugby outfit ACT Brumbies in their morning training session. In the space of only 3 hours he had shared ideas and collaborated with 3 people who sit right at the top of the Australian high performance system. A very productive first full day back in Aus!

Welcome Ella, our new physiotherapist! Ella joins CSMC having worked with the Loughborough National Tennis Academy and Leicester Tigers Premiership Women’s Rugby. She holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with 1st Class Honours and this summer will complete her Masters of Sports Rehabilitation from Loughborough University.

Outside of physio Ella competes in Hyrox and is also a competitive tennis player!

This weekend CSMC Senior Physio Antoine was part of the medical team at the British Gymnastics National Championships. The best athletes in the country including Team GB Olympians battled it out in front of a full house at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool to be crowned British Champion.
