Thank you so much for exploring my page, please have look around - there are hints and tips to help your horse and plenty of pictures of my equine clients and perhaps one or two of my own boy Remus.
Remus is a 9-year-old KWPN, working at Medium level dressage. I backed and trained him, which makes me feel super proud. Remus is happy, intelligent, and genuinely a lovely horse to be around. He loves his field buddies or any horse that will groom him and he loves hacking.
I am a fully qualified, experienced, and insured Equine Sports Massage Therapist.
The majority of Equiscience™ client work is across the North West UK, however, if you are further afield, just message or call me for a chat as upon request, I can travel. It makes senses if there is a group of you or more than one horse in your yard.
I do provide additional clinics and client days across Cumbria, Cheshire, Yorkshire and the Isle of Man (where I once used to live).
I studied Equine Sports Massage Therapy graduating with a Diploma Distinction in all modules, in both written and practical examinations. I am a member of the International Association of Animal Therapy (IAAT) meaning that you can be assured of the highest possible standards in my work. I undertake extensive continuous professional development allowing me to advance my existing skills to the highest possible service level for you and your horse.
Horses are definitely in my genes; this is all I have always wanted-a career focused on my passion. I grew up with horses and always felt a deep love and connection to them, even the donkeys at St Anne’s beach were not reprieved, I would pester my Mum for donkey rides on day trips out, therefore I knew that my destiny is working with horses. In fact, the saying is true that ‘when you do what you love, it’s not work anymore’. I do love what I do.
In 2005, I gained my BSc Honours Degree in Equine Science & Management, before completing a course at the National Racing College, riding out racehorses on the gallops.
I have a love for training and schooling horses, besides from backing and training my own KPWN horse, I have also supported clients and trained many other horses. I have regular lessons with a Dressage Grand Prix rider and coach. I’m a great believer that regular and varied workload for the horse, develops correct musculature, and thus they can live happier, healthier and sounder lives for longer. I can help you come up with a plan in developing correct muscles for function and performance.
I have found that there is something incredibly special about massage therapy and in knowing that you can relieve tension, restore mobility and heal both emotional and physical pain thorough touch and pressure from your hands. There is also a beautiful encounter when massaging a horse, especially on a quiet morning or evening at the barn; the horse becomes a friend, loving, quiet, and very calm. It is a magical feeling.
All of my treatments are bespoke and based on your horse’s history and my dynamic assessment. In addition to my treatment, I can provide you with a comprehensive programme of passive and active stretches and if necessary, ridden or groundwork exercises to help your horse in the following weeks.
I most definitely believe that regular massage in your horse’s maintenance programme, no matter how old the horse, in work, competition or retired, will make a beneficial difference. Don’t take just my word for it, see the countless feedback on this page and many more on my web site.
Equine Massage and soft tissue treatment are an established, effective and well documented treatment option for many conditions as well as for maintenance of soft tissue health. The benefits are countless and often unrealised by many a horse owner and rider.
The difference owners began to feel and a see after my massage treatments are testament to this. I receive feedback such as the horse being straighter, softer to the contact, more engaged or happily offering extension in trot and canter or just happier in themselves.
I had a lovely result when a jumping horse I treated, won the 1.30m class the following evening with ease. I have horses who have struggled to walk downhill, very stiff, and slow, but after therapy, can walk away with ease, hind legs marching and underneath their bodies tracking up. The difference even after one massage treatment is phenomenal.
Veterinary Consent is required before any treatment can be carried out. This is a legal requirement under The Veterinary Surgeon’s Act 1966 and applies to all equine therapists. I am sorry for this bit of initial admin, but once it’s completed it’s on record for your horse. I always work with full support and authority of your vet and will happily work with any professionals involved with your horse.
I am passionate about providing exceptional care for your horse or pony. I put my heart and soul into every single treatment, and I invite you to read the reviews on my page to see what other people think of my services.
Please check out the offers I provide as well as the random competitions, plus advice, tips and more!
Many Thanks,
