Our triggers are reflections of what’s still tender inside of us.
When something or someone “sets us off,” it’s usually a younger part of us saying, “This still hurts,” or “I still don’t feel safe.” The anger, defensiveness, or shutdown isn’t a flaw in our character; it’s a mirror, showing us where love, understanding, and healing are still needed.
Instead of asking, “Why are they doing this to me?” we can gently ask, “What is this bringing up in me?” That small shift turns conflict into information, discomfort into guidance, and pain into a doorway back to ourselves.
Our triggers don’t mean we’re broken. They mean there’s a part of us still waiting to be seen, held, and finally set free.
