This is something I see a lot.
From the outside, they look confident, capable, successful.
But inside it feels very different.
Like they’re acting.
Like at any moment someone is going to realise they don’t actually belong there.
Like their success is a fluke.
So their brain stays on high alert… quietly preparing for the moment it all falls apart.
When your brain is stuck in that survival mode, it doesn’t matter how capable you actually are. The feeling of being “found out” can follow you everywhere.
In this case it showed up as imposter syndrome.
Which then started to chip away at self-esteem, distort self-image, and slowly pull him away from things he once enjoyed.
The truth is, this pattern is far more common than people realise.
The good news is it isn’t permanent.
When you understand how the brain works, you can change the pattern.
That’s exactly the work we did.
