We enjoyed a glorious Spring morning at the allotment on Sunday. 🪏🫜🌱

We’re always happy to see new faces, and we could do with a few more volunteers to join us. Everyone is welcome, whatever your age or experience.

There’s usually homemade cake to enjoy (which always goes down well!) and plenty of delicious produce to share too. 🍰☕️🥕🥦🧅🥬🫛

It’s a relaxed and friendly drop-in session, so you can come along whenever it suits you between 10:00 and 12:30 and stay for as long or as little as you like. Just wear suitable shoes - boots or wellies are best - and we’ll provide everything else.

It’s a lovely way to spend some time outdoors, learn a bit more about growing, and share experiences with others. And if you’ve ever thought about taking on an allotment yourself, it’s a great chance to give it a try first. 🪏

We’d love to see you there 💚

Volunteer Spotlight - Debbie ✨🔦

Debbie, a retired psychiatrist and grandmother, uses her multi tasking and game playing skills to run our weekly term-time Youth Club (with Sue and other volunteers).
If your child is in Years 7 or 8, they are welcome to join in the fun every Wednesday. Contact us at hello@wellbeingintheweald.co.uk

The youth club really needs more volunteers and particularly men. We would love to hear from you if you think you can help us. Get in touch via the website link in our bio.

A marketer during the week, a yoga teacher at the weekend and a Wellbeing in the Weald Trustee.

Alison teaches yoga at our class on Saturday mornings in Sissinghurst.“These classes are magical, uplifting, inclusive and kind.”

Exercise often releases feel-good hormones which can boost mood, reduce stress and alleviate anxiety.

Volunteer Spotlight - Dineli ✨🔦

Doctor Dineli to many of our community and a founder of Wellbeing in the Weald! Dineli leads the monthly online bookclub where they romp through fiction and non fiction, or sometimes just chat over a cuppa.

Maybe you could host a ‘film club’ that involves some dissection over a chat? Perhaps a theatre appreciation group and you organise tickets and logistics? We are keen to hear from anyone that has ideas to bring our community together.  Get in touch via the website link in our bio.

Volunteer Spotlight - Sue ✨🔦

Sue was previously responsible for the City of London parks and green spaces so she knows a thing or two about planting and growing! Sue runs the allotment every Sunday morning weather permitting with support from other leaders- a great team! She can also be found volunteering her time and skills at most of our events.
If it’s too wet or cold for the allotment, Sue leads a walk to warm everyone up. She is also known to rustle up a cake to tempt volunteers.

Would you like to help at the allotment? Do you have other skills in horticulture, nature or anything else that others might enjoy learning from you? Get in touch via the website link in our bio.

We would love to hear from you if you could spare some time, as a one off, or more regularly to share your skills, insight, knowledge or passion in a way for others to enjoy and support wellbeing.

Contact us if you have an idea for something you would like to do. hello@wellbeingintheweald.co.uk

The first of our volunteer spotlights will be posted tomorrow. 🌟

Wellbeing in the Weald

Wellbeing is important to us all. It’s not just about healthy eating and regular exercise. Wellbeing is more to do with feeling good about ourselves, getting the most out of our lives and feeling connected to other people. It enables us to cope when life gets tough or when our health suffers. Wellbeing in the Weald has been formed by a group representing a cross section of the community including a local GP, Dr Dineli Charlesworth. Our aim is to organise new and promote existing wellbeing activities in the Weald including community walks, lunch clubs, choirs, volunteering and other social activities that bring people together on a regular basis.

We are keen to hear from anyone (16-106 years) who would like to help set up or simply attend our wellbeing activities and events. If you are already involved in an activity that promotes wellbeing, please let us know!
