🌟 When Should My Child Say Each Sound? 🌟

Speech sounds develop gradually — and that’s totally normal!

However, there are a few things to look out for that would usually end in a recommendation for further assessment of speech sounds -

⚠️ Your child starts to get frustrated because his speech isn’t understood

⚠️ You are the only one who can understand your child and you find yourself being their “interpreter”

⚠️ Your child doesn’t seem to be able to follow instructions well or seems to not be listening often

⚠️ Your child’s speech doesn’t include lots of the sounds expected for their age

⚠️ Your child says words like this:
“guck” for Duck 🦆
“key” for Tea ☕️
“bak” for bat 🦇

⚠️ Your child seems aware of their mistakes and might have started to try to avoid saying certain words or sounds

Every child develops at their own pace — but early support can make a big difference! 💕

🌟 When children are learning to talk they use phonological processes to simplify the way words are produced in order to make them easier to say
🌟 These processes usually start to disappear as toddlers being using more words and sentences
🌟 Sometimes, children continue to use these processes (such as missing the end sounds off words) which causes their speech to be difficult to understand
🌟 A speech therapy assessment will help to unpick why your little one’s speech is tricky to understand and what we can do to help
