Evening all!

I hope you’re keeping well 😊

Just a quick update to let you know that, with effect from the 5th December 2022, the cost of a standard one hour treatment session will increase to £60.

This has become necessary due to continued increases in operating costs.

The market rate for an hour of soft tissue therapy is currently between £75 and £85; so my rate is still significantly lower than average. Having a clinic based at my home means I can pass these savings on to you.

If you’re in pain but are struggling financially, please contact me in complete confidence and we’ll sort something out.

Peace and love 🙏

I hope you are all keeping well and are beginning to feel a bit more optimisitic about things.

I'm a big believer in keeping treatment as affordable as possible, and have taken this to extremes by not increasing my fees in over three years. However, increasing business costs as well as being way below the market average have lead me to review matters. So, with effect from the 1st May 2021, a one hour session will be charged at £55.

To give you a benchmark, the market rate for one hour of soft tissue therapy is in the region of £65 to £75 (or £95 in affluent areas😱). Fortunately, having a clinic based at my home means I can charge less and pass that saving on to my clients.

You're also benefitting from seeing a hybrid therapist who incorporates additional treatment modalities including medical acupuncture, electroacupuncture, neuromuscular activation, and osteopathic articulation and manipulation.

As always, if you are in need of treatment but are experiencing financial problems, PLEASE still get in touch.

See you soon I hope, peace and love 🙏

A tough year for us all. If a global pandemic wasn't hard enough, we bore witness to political and social unrest, and continued injustice. We still find ourselves in the midst of it all and I hope that the world that emerges post COVID is one of inclusion, social change and reparations.

A massive thank you to all my clients; it is both a privilege and a pleasure to work with you.

There is still some uncertainty as to what the future holds and this is taking a toll on our minds as well as our bodies. My advice? Focus on the here and now; be present. Narrow your focus to the things you can control, and just let everything else play out. If things get too much, reach out. I'm here.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas.

As always, peace and love 🙏🖤🙏🖤

Gyms open tomorrow! Hell yeah! Make the most of it, but don't f**k yourself!

Chances are your training has taken a bit of a back seat over the past month. The good news is that you probably won't have lost much strength in that timeframe; but your fitness and conditioning may have taken a slight hit.

Try to ease yourself in. The DOMS are going to be pretty killer for the first week or so but you'll be back on top form in no time.

Normal service now resumes so I'm looking forward to helping you with all your rehab, maintenance and optimisation needs, as well as injury and pain management.

See you soon

Peace and love 💪💪💪

So, round 2 of lockdown.

I think we all need to do our bit to make it as effective (and as short) as possible. So during this second lockdown, I will only be providing treatment to those of you with a specific injury or pain. This will be subject to a telephone / online discussion as, where possible, I will try to manage your issue remotely.
I won’t be offering rehab /maintenance / performance optimisation treatments during this time.
Thanks for your support and understanding; I hope you all keep safe and well.
As always, if you need any advice on injury management, give me a shout. Advice is free! 😊

Say hello to my little friend! 🤣

Since reopening the clinic after lockdown, keeping you safe has been a top priority. With cases on the rise, I have invested in this little beauty, a ULV fogger👌🏼

Prior to your appointment, the treatment room and hallway will have been fogged using XtraProtect solution. The fogger turns the solution into a fine mist, which engulfs the entire room, coating all surfaces. This envelopes the membrane of viruses, exposing the nucleocapsid and ultimately kills its ability to infect subsequent cells. It even works on airborne particles.

XtraProtect is a UK developed and produced non-toxic and pH neutral formulation. It is proven to kill and protect against 99.99% of bacteria and enveloped viruses (including COVID-19). It's laboratory tested to BS EN 1276 and BS EN 14476 standards.

Finally, it is eco-friendly, as it is biodegradable. I get to protect you and the environment at the same time 🙌

Stay safe all. Much love ❤

Well, we finally have the green light from BoJo (better late than never), the clinic reopens on Monday 13th July 20202. F**k yeah!

I have really missed you guys over the past few months. A huge thank you for your support; I’m really excited to welcome you back. So if you need an appointment, hit me up and we’ll get you booked in.

I am taking all possible measures to protect you from COVID. The treatment room is cleaned after every single treatment (chemically and UV-C). All towels and couch covers are single use only and are boil washed for your safety. I have an Envirovent ATMOS system installed which continuously displaces the existing air with fresh, filtered, clean air from outside. I also leave a minimum of an hour between clients so the treatment room is extremely well ventilated.

Finally, I have had air conditioning installed ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ so no more sweaty summer treatments!

Looking forward to seeing you soon. Much love 👊

So, I finally have an update for you - it’s not what we were hoping for unfortunately.

The Government’s latest guidance maintains that close contact professions in any setting must remained closed at this time. The guidance is very broad and Soft Tissue Therapy is not actually mentioned. This is understandable since it is a relatively new discipline in healthcare and has not made it on to the Government’s radar. But without specific approval, we are unable to resume practise.

Obviously we are extremely frustrated by the decision to reopen certain parts of the industry but not ours, where we know we can maintain a higher level of control and mitigating measures. It seems illogical that you can get a haircut but not receive treatment for an injury or medical condition.

We believe we can comfortably say that these latest guidelines have been drawn up without the necessary understanding of our profession. However, the Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists will work to put pressure on changing that decision while taking this opportunity to raise the profile of our profession within the Government and directly with the Secretary of State for Health. I have also contacted our local MP to make her aware.

Sorry folks, I know many of you are equally frustrated. Please continue to get in touch for advice on injury management. I will of course update you again as soon as I hear anything. In the meantime, enjoy the hot weather - and hopefully seen you soon.

Why hello there!

How is everyone? I hope you’re all coping ok and doing your homework. To all of you who have been in touch, thank you, it’s been nice to hear from you.

Some of you have asked why I haven’t resumed practice when some other manual therapists have started seeing clients again 🤔

It’s basically down to practitioner discretion. There aren’t any legal sanctions preventing practitioners from seeing clients face to face (although the stance of our insurers is uncertain 😧). Some practitioners have therefore chosen to reopen their practices.

However, there is specific guidance not only from the Government but also from our governing bodies - the ISRM (soft tissue therapists), GOSC (osteopaths), CSP (physiotherapists) and GCC (chiropractors). They ALL advise that patients should be managed virtually / remotely. Face to face treatment should only be considered as a last resort for urgent or emergency cases and after a full patient risk assessment and detailed clinical reasoning. So regular appointments certainly should not be offered currently.

My priority is, and always will be, your wellbeing - and that of your families. I want to be part of the solution rather than the problem so at the present time, in accordance with Government and professional instruction, I will not be taking face to face appointments. If you need advice, hit me up, it’s always free!

It is largely anticipated that business will resume on 4th July 2020 so I’m hoping to see you all then (and the gyms reopening too, woo hoo 💪). Until then ...

Happy World Running Day people!

Due to lockdown, a lot of you have commenced new training regimes. This may be an entirely new pursuit or an adaptation of the activities you would normally do.

Many of you have started running and are really beginning to enjoy the challenge. Good work! 👊

Just a little cautionary advice. It is normal to get some minor aches and pains when starting a new form of activity. Your body is adjusting to the new demands and this is a good thing. However, many of you have been getting in touch with some more troublesome issues. Probably the four most common issues are plantar fasciitis (pain in the sole of the foot), medial tibial stress syndrome (“shin splints”), patellofemoral pain syndrome (“runner’s knee”) and Achilles tendinopathy (pain in tendon below your calf muscles).

Most of these issues are the consequence of doing too much too soon. You need to gradually increase your exposure to running to allow your soft tissues to develop tolerance to the demands you are placing on them.

If you’re having problems, try to dial it down a bit. Maybe run every other day, reduce your mileage, avoid running on hills, and make sure you have suitably supportive running shoes. Taking care of yourself now will stop the problem developing in to a more significant injury later on - which will probably force you to stop running for a substantial period of time.

If you have any questions, hit me up 🤙
