Hyperemersis Gravidarum Outreach and Phone counselling Services

HG Outreach and Phone counselling support is a service offered by The Australian Birth Trauma and PTSD treatment centre. The service provides professional outreach (Melbourne) and national phone support by a trained mental health practitioner whose focus is trauma within pregnancy and the postpartum period and who also has a decade of case management experience. Lindsey has also survived 2 HG pregnancies herself. In-home counselling support can be provided to assist those currently experiencing HG and clinic based for those still feeling the after affects of HG after birth. HG is a disruptive, isolating and under-supported illness that often gets dismissed or ignored, leaving sufferers and their families to deal with it alone. The chronicity of the illness, for some, can cause longer term depression and anxiety and also PTSD symptoms once pregnancy is over. This service has been develop specifically to assist women and their families deal with the emotional impact this relentless illness can have on the family unit. Outreach services are within the Melbourne area and appointments are for 1- 1.5hr. We understand that often HG women are forced to give up work early, so finances can be tight, therefore payment plans are available as well as some rebates where appropriate. Please note, to get rebates this may take up 4 week to organise.
