'Veterans Tribe Scotland (VTS) is a Fife based non-profit community organisation that provides a creative, therapeutic network of free craft activities for Veterans and their families throughout Scotland.
At one of our recent regular craft sessions held at St Ninians Church in Dunfermline Gerry McGregor (VTS Founder/Activities Coordinator) was presented with a wonderful donation of £987.28 from one of our family members Deborah Mellon. This fantastic total has been raised by Deborah over the previous twelve months, as she created and sold beautiful flower bouquets with all the proceeds going to VTS.
All of the money will be used to help continue our craft activities program which include mosaics, book binding, pyrography, lino printing, felting, weaving, decoupage and more....
VTS provides support to the Veteran community in Scotland with our creative, therapeutic activities, helping alleviate loneliness, isolation and anxiety. Many of our members face mental and physical health challenges and learning new skills whilst meeting up with others in their local area is so important. This encourages getting out of the house to meet and build friendships, using creativity as a coping tool to maintain and improve wellbeing.
If you are a Veteran or a family member living in Scotland and would like to join our mailing list to hear about our activities then please contact us via our website: https://www.veteranstribescotland.co.uk/ .
There are monthly creative sessions in Fife, Dundee, West Lothian, Clackmannanshire, Ayrshire, Aberdeen, Moray and Edinburgh plus outdoor activities and family events in various locations together with online activities too.... Last year we held over 140 sessions with more than 1800 attendees taking part.
Suitable for all abilities, mobilities and ages we can adapt our activities so anyone can take part. They are fun to do and there is always plenty of chat and laughter with refreshments provided'.
