🌻The way I work as a Postnatal Doula 🌻
As a Postnatal Doula I work to be a consistent source of support as you navigate the early days of parenthood, honouring and holding space for all of the feelings you may experience, and offering practical support so that you get the rest you deserve.
Anthropologist Dana Raphael coined the term 'Matrescence' to describe the process of becoming a mother, and I believe it's especially important to acknowledge just that- it is a process, and it takes time. Patrescence is the term used for fathers as they too make this transition into parenthood.
It is an absolute privilege to work with new parents during this time and to be let into their precious baby bubble.
This is how I structure my support:
Before baby arrives ('antenatal')
- getting to know you and your family
- birth preference planning
- planning for postnatal recovery
After baby arrives ('postnatal')
- emotional support
- practical help
- nourishing food
- holding space and honouring all the feels
- just being there for you, at times when your support network can't be
My postnatal support is available at an hourly rate and I also offer set packages that see you through from the antenatal period into postnatal. Links in bio☝️ DM me with any questions 🙏
