At the end of 2025 from Solstice through to the first weeks of 2026 I began working on some music. I was torn between creating new tracks to play when I DJ and making some new music for my breathwork sessions. 2 collections emerged from this creative flowstate, with each project informing the other.
Inspiral Breath is a breathwork journey in 4 parts over 1 hr. 3 rounds of 4/4 breathing with breath retentions and the final round increasing in speeding up and intensifying. The sequence begins with 2 minute drone designed to chant and tone before you begin the breathwork session.
Breathe in through the nose deep into the abdomen (feel the belly rise) and out through the mouth, tightening your lips to control the out-breath to match the rhythm of the music. There isn’t any guidance on these tracks just counting and prompts for the retentions. The holds are approx. 2 mins so feel free to take sips of air and return to the hold when you need to and feel free to breathe in through the mouth as the tempo increases.
Aligned with True True is the companion album, some of the tracks here gave birth to the Inspiral Breath album, but on this collection the music is designed to get your feet moving, I am planning to share these in an ecstatic dance context following a breathwork journey (watch this space).
Here is a response from Cassie after I shared the Inspiral Breath music in a class:
Thank you for a profound experience Andy, it really is a gift. I can hear the love that went into making your music. No doubt this breathwork is helping me to heal. I find that having the opportunity to briefly chat about my experience afterwards, to be witnessed, is so valuable, when I have a powerful one like tonight, thank you folks. It reminds me that simply being open hearted, face to face and energetically present can be utterly beautiful. Full of gratitude.
