Today I visited Llangollen Youth Centre, which is owned by Denbighshire County Council.
The building has been closed during the day for some time, so it’s really encouraging to see it beginning to come back to life and being used again by the community, even though it continues to be used in the evenings by the Young Farmers, which they have done for the last 20 years.
One really positive development is that Food Share Llangollen, run by Steph, will now be using the centre one to two days a week, alongside offering a selection of available food for people who may need support, they also run groups and activities that help bring people together and reduce isolation.
Today’s session was run by Community Wellness, who work in holistic health, wellbeing and healing, treating those most in need with genuine care and compassion.
They believe that every person, regardless of their circumstances, has the right to be well, not just physically, but also emotionally, socially, environmentally and financially.
Their focus includes:
- Holistic wellness
- Therapeutic relationships
- Stress and trauma
- Compulsive and harmful behaviour
- Poverty
They tackle:
- Population health
- Loneliness and marginalisation
- Mental and physical illness
- Addiction
They work in:
- Community spaces
- Homeless hostels
- Natural spaces
- Digital platforms
- Third sector, public and private settings

There was also valuable support today from someone offering advice on keeping household bills down, alongside support from Co-op, who are putting a lot of energy into supporting different charities across the town.
It’s really positive to see Llangollen Youth Centre beginning to be used again in the day to support people locally, exactly what community spaces should be about.
