Meet this gorgeous cheeky chappy, Snoop 🐾

His owner reached out as Snoop has been feeling very anxious and reactive both on walks and at home—barking and lunging at just about everything.

Today we had a really positive session focused on building his confidence and helping him start to enjoy his walks again. We also worked on preventing reactions before they happen. By helping his owner recognise Snoop’s body language and early triggers—like spotting another dog or a passing car—they can now redirect his focus before he becomes overwhelmed.

By the end of the session, he was walking like a completely different dog! That said, this isn’t a quick fix. Lasting change takes time, patience, and consistency. Celebrate the small wins—they’re the ones that grow into big breakthroughs šŸ’›

Another day, another reactive dog… šŸ’›

Meet beautiful Bron — a very kind, sensitive girl who just finds certain things in life a little overwhelming, whether that’s other dogs or even horses.

Today, we’ve been working on giving Bron (and her owner!) some solid foundations to build confidence before facing those triggers. Because the truth is, you don’t ā€œfixā€ reactivity by flooding a dog with the very things that stress them out — you build them up first, step by step.

Huge well done to her owner for being so committed to helping Bron feel safer and more secure šŸ‘

And on a very important note… she also makes a damn good cake! šŸŽ‚šŸ˜‹

Today I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Brillo and her owner. Brillo can be very reactive out on walks—whether it’s dogs, cats, or even birds—often standing on her hind legs, growling, and barking.

Reactivity like this can make walks stressful and overwhelming for any owner, regardless of their dog’s size.

During our session, we focused on helping Brillo pay more attention to her owner by making a few simple but effective changes. It was great to see how quickly she started to respond!

I’ve also given her owner some homework to continue building on today’s progress, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how Brillo gets on.

Meet this gorgeous boy, Rambo the Rottweiler 🐾

I was delighted when his owner reached out for help with his reactive behaviour. Rambo is a big, fit, strong lad, and until now, his walks have mostly been about going wherever he wants—without much consideration for the human on the other end of the lead!

The good news is that by the end of our session, he was walking beautifully on the lead šŸ‘ However, this is just the beginning, and there’s still plenty of work ahead.

I’m really looking forward to sharing updates on his progress—watch this space! 🐶✨

This short clip shows me observing Rambo’s behaviour for the very first time.

Although I’m holding the lead, I’m only there for safety. It’s important for me to see Rambo’s natural responses without stepping in, while also making sure his owner stays safe.

This gives me a true picture of what we’re working with so we can build the right plan to help him succeed 🐾

Today we’re celebrating National Hug Your Dog Day! šŸ¾šŸ’›

But here’s a gentle reminder… not all dogs love hugs the way we do.

At Game of Dogs, we always put our dogs’ comfort first. Some pups enjoy close contact, while others prefer a scratch, a game, or just being near you.

So today, show your dog love in their language:
🐶 A calm cuddle (if they enjoy it)
🐶 Their favourite walk
🐶 A fun training session
🐶 A tasty treat
🐶 Or simply some quality time together

The best ā€œhugā€ is one your dog feels safe and happy in šŸ¤

Tell us—does your dog love a cuddle or prefer their own space? šŸ‘‡

Let’s talk Dachshunds 🐾

They’re one of the most popular breeds — and yes, they’re undeniably cute. Let’s be honest, we all loved Slinky in Toy Story!

But it’s important to understand what they were originally bred for… badger hunting. Their long bodies, deep chests, and powerful drive were designed for tunnelling underground and flushing out badgers — tough, defensive animals.

And that bark? That’s not ā€œyappyā€ for no reason — it’s part of their working purpose.

So how can we expect them to be calm, cuddly companions without giving them the right outlets? These dogs need proper exercise, mental stimulation, and opportunities to use their natural instincts.

I see so many Dachshunds showing reactive behaviours, but because they’re small, it often gets overlooked. The result? A frustrated dog that isn’t being properly understood.

Small dog ≠ low needs.
They deserve the same structure, training, and fulfilment as any larger breed.

Let’s do better by them ā¤ļø

Do you think small dogs get treated differently to bigger breeds?

Reactive dogs aren’t ā€œbad dogsā€ 🐶

They’re often:
āž” Overwhelmed
āž” Frustrated
āž” Unsure how to cope

Our job at A Game of Dogs is to give them clarity—and give you control.

Training a reactive dog can feel stressful, but with the right guidance, it gets easier.

Meet the lovely Ruby 🐾
Ruby is a 6-year-old rescue who ended up being what we call a ā€œfailed fosterā€ — her foster family fell completely in love with her and decided to make her a permanent part of their home. Honestly, it’s easy to see why!
Like many dogs, Ruby has her quirks — including pulling like a steam train on the lead šŸš‚ — but we’ve just completed our first training session, and her family are already seeing a real improvement.
Next step: recall training… watch this space 😊

Loose lead walking, not a halti in sight! Happy dogs, happy owner

The two things people always want from their dogs is a good recall and to walk nicely on the lead. Well get your dog to engage with you & those important things will fall into place. When out walking, instead of just getting from a to b just because you have to walk the dog. Do things with your dog. Get them to stand on a log, get them to do a sit, teach them ' go rounds' make your walk fun. Be the person your dog wants to be with

How lucky am I!! Got to work with this beauty & of course his owner 😊 Quintus, is a young, powerful boxer who does take his owner for a bit of a walk on the lead, so today he learned how walk nicely on the lead without pulling. What a fast learner he is, he was a superstar and walked beautifully on the lead without pulling in very quick time. If you want to achieve this with your dog, call me

Little Rosie, cute as a button had her first training session today. What a super bright girl she is, started with a few engagement exercises and learning sit. Also chatted about how to get the other dogs in the household used to her. Looking forward to working with Rosie again
