BUSTING THE MYTH - Eat less fat for good health?
Your body needs three nutrients to thrive: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Yes, fats! Good-for-you fats found in foods like nuts, seeds, fish, avocado, olives, and low-fat dairy give you energy, help rebuild cells, and produce needed hormones. The fats to limit or avoid are saturated and trans fats, found in foods like butter, high-fat dairy, red meat, and any brand fats or fats from vegetable oils high in omega 6 many of which are found in UPF ultra processed foods. Omega 6 itself along with omega-3 plays a crucial role in brain function, and normal growth and development. As a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), omega-6s help stimulate skin and hair growth, maintain bone health, regulate metabolism, and maintain the reproductive system. When added in excess in UPF it becomes bad for us as it upsets the ration of omega 3 and 6 and changes form helping to prevent many diseases to elevating the risk of those diseases. So yes we should limit saturated fat, and definitely cut our all trans-fats and definitely eat lots of the good fats which are an essential part of any plan for health excess fat.
