Just wanting to wish all my lovely clients and their owners a very happy and healthy New Year. It’s been a pleasure helping to support all your goals, from rehab to performance improvement, in 2025. Looking forward to all that 2026 will bring. I’m posting early as I will, as usual, be taking in the bells out in the stables to make sure my boys aren’t too affected by the inevitable fireworks 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Busy weekend spent helping horses feel better in themselves, releasing tension and improving mobility. Some new faces, some more familiar, but all make me stand back and think. Low on photos as I forgot my phone🤦🏻‍♀️.
Now that the clocks have changed, and our horses are spending more of their day stabled, it’s a good time for a visit for a thorough hands on therapy session to help ease off niggles from summer work and guard against winter stiffness.
Still some availability before Christmas.

Delighted to be able to add Equine Kinesiology Taping to my services. Ktaping is gentle, non invasive and complementary to the light touch MM techniques.
Why tape? Taping can be used to reduce pain and inflammation, facilitate correct movement and alignment of the body, improve proprioception, provide support and stability to weak or injured muscles, reduce muscle tension, improve muscle activation, improve circulation and increase lymphatic drainage.

Anyone want to guess what I was doing this evening? Less than 6 months since last done and this is the size of bean that has formed. He should be feeling a lot more comfortable now. Not a fun job but so important for our gelding’s and stallion’s wellbeing.

Second session with this boy. Always interesting to see the increase in calmness and acceptance of the techniques when they know what is going to happen. He spent most of the session loose and was happy to stay close. Using the Masterson Method I work with the horse in a relaxed state, under the natural brace response and always being led by their reactions, responses and releases.

Busy weekend. Seem to be on a run of dark geldings at the moment! Ever so grateful for cool barns and stables, makes the sessions much more pleasant for horse and human alike. Much easier to maintain a relaxed horse and engage with the para-sympathetic when the temperature is bearable. Now if the clegs could just move along it would be greatly appreciated 🦟 🦟.

A first session with this gorgeous big lad. Quiet and stoic to start with but when he fully engaged with the body work the releases were significant. He has recently come to a new home and his owner is giving him loads of support to overcome previous trauma. Ended the session a little earlier than usual as he had a spell of very deep processing then indicated he was done for the day. With MM it is important to listen to what the horse is communicating as they are an active participant in the process. Looking forward to peeling more layers of tension and restriction off this boy and helping him feel comfortable in body and mind.

Highly relatable. But if every horse was perfect I’d be out of a job!

I saw this first thing in the morning and just about choked on my coffee…..it’s applicable to horses because the anatomy text books and real life can be so far apart!

The Out of Office is now officially on! Taking a very overdue holiday with the better half for a couple of weeks and will only have limited access to both phone signal and internet. If you need to get in touch please just PM and I will pick up on my return. Diary for July is mostly full but still the odd space and August still has availability.

Yesterday was a school day. CPD Therapists Day with the brilliant Catriona Goulding. Lots of anatomy, case studies and hands on practice with a lovely group of like minded people. Thanks to Cat for arranging and Kinross Polo Club for the use of their facilities and horses.

Just a heads up for existing and new clients. I have introduced an onboarding form, a simple one pager which explains what I do and what the owner needs to do before and immediately after a bodywork session. I will be asking clients to sign one of these, just once not for every session, and if any of you would like one emailed so you can read and sign it before your next appointment please pm me and I’ll get one to you. Alternatively I’ll be bringing copies with me to sessions.

Lovely morning spent working with this smashing gelding. Lots of interesting responses and releases and equally interesting chat with his owner regarding primary and secondary causes, anatomy and techniques. Always delighted to explain what MMCPs do and how it benefits our horses.
