Hillcrest FB

Hillcrest FB Homes with heart. Communities with purpose. Futures with promise. We are unusual for a Scottish RSL in that we have a large and diverse group structure.

From housing and care to training and employment, we're committed to helping people live better lives. Hillcrest Housing Association was formed in 1967 and over the decades has continually evolved its structure to meet changing and challenging operating conditions. The purpose of operating as the Hillcrest Group of Companies is to be more than a traditional housing association by providing a range of housing, care and wider role service. We are not only a large housing provider but also have a substantial care company, maintenance company and a training/employment arm helping people overcome barriers to finding sustainable employment.

Hillcrest Futures' Lauriston in Leith service provides accommodation‑based support to women who are homeless.

Recently, a staff member from the service approached The Gull's Grocery, an independent grocer in Leith, to ask whether they would like to donate any leftover fresh produce. We are so pleased that they kindly agreed and are now providing a weekly supply of fruit and vegetables to the women supported at Lauriston in Leith.

These generous donations make a real difference. They allow residents to cook nourishing meals, and they mean fresh pots of soup and other communal dishes can be made for everyone to enjoy.

We are incredibly grateful to The Gull's Grocery, and to our wider community, for the kindness and support shown to the women we work with. ❤️ 🙂

*Update for tenants in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire*

Due to the current snow and severe weather conditions, we are experiencing some unavoidable disruptions to our normal services.

While we are working hard to maintain essential operations, please be aware of the following:

🔹 Repairs and Maintenance - Response times may be longer than usual, and only urgent or emergency repairs will be prioritised during this period.
🔹 Appointments - Some scheduled visits may need to be postponed. We will contact you directly if your appointment is affected.
🔹 Communication - Our phone lines and email services remain open as usual.

Your safety is our top priority. If you have an emergency repair (such as loss of heating, water leaks, or security issues), please contact us immediately on 08000 324888.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these challenging conditions. Updates will be provided as the situation changes.

The Scottish Housing Regulator recently published a factsheet for tenants about raising a Serious Concern about a landlord.

The new factsheet provides information about how tenants can report Serious Concerns to the Regulator and how it handles these reports.

If you're a Hillcrest Homes tenant, and would like more information, you can read the factsheet in the link below:

We love hearing from our tenants, and this recent comment from a satisfaction survey really made our day. After a reactive repair carried out by our Dundee Reactive Repairs Team, including work on kitchen taps, resealing a shower area, and repairing a door handle, we received this wonderful feedback:

"The professionalism of the tradesman who carried out the work was very gratifying to witness and the supportive consideration they displayed was tremendous. 'Happy with the work' does not begin to express my satisfaction. Thank you to the whole departmental team."

A huge well done to our repairs teams for continuing to deliver great service, especially during this busy time of year. 🎄

Spreading festive kindness through The Beacon Angus

Thanks to funding from the Hillcrest Foundation, The Beacon received £225 to create 20 Christmas Hampers, bringing comfort and kindness to those most in need.

The Beacon is a community wellbeing centre in Arbroath, commissioned by Angus Health and Social Care Partnership and delivered by Hillcrest Futures. It provides a safe, welcoming space where people across Angus can access support, connect with others, and get involved in activities that promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

With additional contributions from community champions at Arbroath Morrisons and Forfar Asda, the hampers were filled with thoughtful items including biscuits, coffee, self‑care products, calendars, socks, gloves, hot water bottles and more.

The feedback received included:
🔹 "It is lovely to be gifted something so thoughtful, when I sometimes feel in a world where nobody thinks of me much."
🔹 "Things are challenging financially, and I have no extra money for treats. This made me smile. Thank you."
🔹 "I'm going to keep this for Christmas Day, to make it special for me."

Pictured with the hampers is Nicola Rourke, Project Worker at The Beacon.

Our Hillcrest Enterprises team is best known for managing mid-market rent services, but this Christmas they’ve gone the extra mile to ensure those facing hardship don’t miss out on the festive spirit.

When Hillcrest Enterprises’ Social Wellbeing Worker, Sarah, learned about a family’s struggles, she submitted a referral to Mission Christmas — the annual campaign run by Cash for Kids, which provides gifts to children living in poverty. Following this, team members Sara and Nina visited Mission Christmas HQ in Edinburgh to collect a special package, which they then delivered to one of our Enterprises households in need.

From all of the team at Hillcrest, we'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Christmas cheer was in full swing across our Hillcrest Futures Housing with Care services, where staff organised festive parties complete with entertainment and plenty of tasty treats.

The people who live at the services joined in the fun, singing along to familiar tunes, and Lizzy, our oldest supported person at 101 years young, took the microphone to share her favourite song with neighbours and friends!

Social events like these are a vital part of the support we provide, helping people connect, celebrate, and feel less isolated. Our Housing with Care services enable people to live independently in sheltered housing sites across Dundee, while enjoying a strong sense of community.
