Dunoon on the Move

Dunoon on the Move Dunoon on the move continues the excellent work of Dunoon Bothy project supporting people to make more everyday journeys by walking, cycling or wheeling.

Check out our programme of walks, cycles, training and e-bike loans, all supported by a team of trained volunteers. Dunoon on the move is funded by HITRANS and supported by Dunoon Community Development Trust.

🌿 Fancy a Ramble? Join Us for a Social Walk! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

📅 Date: Saturday, 14 March 2026
⏰ Time: 10:30am
💷 Cost: Free – just come along!
📍 Meeting Point: Benmore Botanic Gardens Car Park, 4 Uig, Benmore, Dunoon PA23 8QU

Come along for a friendly 4.6 mile walk exploring some beautiful local routes. We’ll meet at the car park at Benmore Gardens and head across to the old road before making our way towards Uig Hall and over the bridge. From there we’ll follow the forest track towards Glen Massan and up the track towards Corasik.

We’ll then turn onto a riverside path which takes us behind the plantation, eventually bringing us out at the main road. From there we can head down to the river (through the field or forest) and follow the river path back before returning to Benmore along Puddle Lane.

🥾 Important:
Although the route is fairly flat, the terrain can be uneven and damp in places, so please wear sturdy footwear and warm, waterproof clothing.

⏱️ The walk should take just under 2 hours.

Dunoon on the Move aims to make cycling, walking and wheeling accessible, fun and sociable for everyone.

This initiative has been developed by Dunoon Community Development Trust in partnership with HITRANS.

Bring a friend and enjoy a great morning out.

It is International Womens Day on the 8th March. I seem to get asked a lot (by men!) what the point of the Breeze Network Dunoon ladies led rides is, and why ladies only?
My answer is simply that its usually the other way round so only fair! I always say to guys im happy to do a one to one confidence session with them, or provide a male colleague to do so, if thats what they want. Women dont always feel comfortable in male dominated environments so this is to help them get into and stay cycling.

Have our cargo bikes intrigued you? Fancy taking the kids out on the Tern GSD?

If you’re looking for an economical and environmentally friendly way to do the school run, shopping trips, or just lug stuff about — this could be the answer!

We’ll have our 3 cargo bikes (including the Tern) plus a couple of e-bikes available. You’ll be shown how to safely ride each one. Cargo bikes are heavier, longer and balance differently, so we can’t just let you take one without training first — but we’ll make sure you feel confident and comfortable.

Once trained, you’re welcome to loan out a cargo bike from us anytime 🚴‍♀️

🎟 Only 5 spaces available
Tickets will be released on Eventbrite - see the link on the What's on Dunoon website.

Yesterday saw us brave the rain and head to Cowal Kirk for our Sunrise Walk! We had a lovely warm welcome, had a cuppa and home baking, coloured in, chatted to some wee folk (and adults 🤣) then walked back again.
