We had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful couple last night, where a husband surprised his wife with an alpaca trek to celebrate her birthday — and what a special experience it turned out to be 💛

Their first evening walk with our alpacas was filled with gentle moments, laughter, and plenty of photo opportunities as they strolled through the countryside together. There’s something truly magical about these calm, curious animals that makes every trek unique.

To make the occasion even more memorable, the experience finished with Prosecco and birthday cake 🥂🍰 — the perfect ending to a very thoughtful surprise.

Red noses, big smiles, and a whole lot of heart ❤️

Andreas the alpaca is getting into the spirit of Red Nose Day with his very own nose… and he’s not alone! One of my lovely customers shared the most gorgeous photo of her son proudly wearing his red nose, complete with his brilliant painting of Andreas right on the front – how amazing is that?!

This is what Red Nose Day is all about: creativity, kindness, and coming together to make a difference. Thank you so much for sharing such a special moment with me – it truly made my day 🥰

We’ve got lots of Easter fun happening at Anvil Alpacas in Old Cassop, near Durham!

Our sessions are small, friendly and relaxed, making them SEND-friendly, and we also run dedicated SEND sessions.

It’s a lovely way to get outdoors, meet the alpacas and enjoy something a bit different this Easter!

Today we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming two lovely girls for a meet & greet with the alpacas, and what a special visit it turned out to be. 🦙💕

After spending time saying hello to the alpacas and sharing plenty of smiles and cuddles, the adventure didn’t stop there. The girls also helped our very own Dolly Digestive the sheep attempt something new — her very first try at the agility course!

Now, Dolly wasn’t entirely sure what all the fuss was about at first… but with lots of gentle encouragement, giggles, and a very important supply of Custard Cream biscuits, she soon realised this could be quite a fun game after all. 🐑🍪

There were a few curious pauses, a couple of “I’ll think about it” moments from Dolly, and plenty of laughter as she made her way around. But with her new cheerleaders by her side, she gave it a brilliant first attempt .
And I think it’s safe to say… Dolly may have discovered a new favourite activity… especially if Custard Creams are involved! 💛

Yesterday we had the absolute privilege of welcoming a truly special young man with complex additional needs, who uses a wheelchair, to spend time with our alpacas.

From the moment he arrived, Sassy and Liv seemed to sense just how special he is. They made such a gentle fuss of him, and beautiful Liv carefully lay down beside his wheelchair, creating the calmest, most touching interaction. It was as though she instinctively understood exactly how to connect with him.

Even our custard cream–loving young sheep,Dolly Digestive, was completely smitten and eager to be part of the experience.

We are incredibly proud that we were able to thoughtfully adapt the visit to meet his individual needs, making sure he could fully and comfortably engage with the animals. Ensuring that everyone — regardless of the challenges they face — can experience the joy, connection and therapeutic warmth our animals bring isn’t just important to us, it’s something we care about deeply and are truly passionate about.

Fleece to Felt Workshop at Anvil Alpacas 🦙✨

Join us for a fun-filled, hands-on creative experience perfect for children aged 5–16 years!

Our 90-120 minute workshop begins with a very special meet and greet with some of our favourite residents — Sassy & Liv the alpacas and Dolly Digestive the sheep. Children will have the opportunity to hand-feed them, enjoy cuddles, and learn a little about where wool comes from.
SEND sessions available

After meeting the animals, it’s time to get creative! 🎨
Using the wet felting technique, children will design and create their very own unique piece of felt art. With colourful wool, water spray bottles, and foam rolling pins (pool noodles!), they’ll transform soft fleece into beautiful shapes, pictures, and imaginative designs to take home.

🍪 Refreshments and cookies included
👩‍👧 Attending adult goes FREE
💷 £25 per child

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to connect with animals, explore creativity, and experience the magic of turning fleece into felt!

What a truly special day at Anvil Alpacas 🦙✨
We had the pleasure of welcoming a lovely family to the farm, where three wonderful children took part in our kids’ felting workshop. After plenty of cuddles with Liv and the ever-sassy Sassy, plus some gentle hand feeding, it was time to get creative!
From start to finish, the children were absolutely fantastic — so focused, imaginative, and incredibly talented. They each created the most adorable felted owls, full of personality and charm. 🦉💛
It’s always such a joy to see young creatives bringing their ideas to life (especially surrounded by alpacas!), and it was a real pleasure to have this lovely family visit us. We can’t wait to welcome them back again soon!

We had the most magical time at Cardboard to Cuddles today!
The girls cuddled and hand-fed the alpacas, made their own cardboard alpacas, and had photos taken in their outfits with the real ones 🦙✨ After snack and juice, they took our lovely Dolly the digestive sheep for a stroll around the property — so many giggles!

Today we had the absolute pleasure of taking our two adorable girls, Sassy and Liv, to visit the wonderful residents at Archers Court Care Home in Sunderland 🦙💛

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was just lovely. We were invited into the warm conservatory, where the girls settled down beautifully, stretching out on the floor and completely relaxing while everyone gathered around. They were so calm and gentle — true professionals!

The residents enjoyed lots of cuddles, strokes, and close-up moments, and it was heartwarming to see so many smiles and hear the laughter filling the room. The staff joined in too, and it quickly turned into such a special shared experience for everyone.

Sassy and Liv were incredibly well behaved, soaking up all the attention . It honestly felt like they didn’t want to leave — and if we’re honest, neither did we!

A truly amazing afternoon, full of warmth, connection, and unforgettable moments. We can’t wait to visit again 💕
