Hiya, I'm Rachel, owner of Conductive Education with Rachel Short, and I empower children across Durham and the North East through Conductive Education!
For over 15 years, I’ve had the joy of working with children who have additional needs.
The philosophy behind Conductive Education is what truly makes my work unique: It's about learning, not treatment.
My role as a Conductor is about building their problem-solving personality and celebrating who they are.
I believe in supporting and empowering every child to not only learn but to thrive in an encouraging and nurturing environment.
That's the 'why' behind everything we do at Conductive Education with Rachel Short.
CE was originally designed for children with Cerebral Palsy, however over time it has expanded to work with a wide range of children, these include;
Dyspraxia
Down Syndrome
Spinal Bifida
Ataxia
Complex Medical Needs
Acquired brain injury
Global develop delay
Genetic conditions
Other Neurological movement disorders or syndromes.
Conductive Education sessions follow a flexible routine with specifically designed tasks. In sessions, we work on a variety of skills simultaneously, including:
Gross motor skills
Fine motor skills
Educational goals - including colours and numbers
Play skills
Social skills
Communication skills
Problem solving skills
