Our Alterntative Provision is now closed until Monday 5th January 2026.

We have had a brilliant term, full of engagement, exploration, assessment and young people starting pre and post 16 qualifications.

The Gift Shop in Fishers Yard, will remain open:
Saturday 20th Dec- 10am-2pm
Monday 22nd Dec- 10am-2pm
Tuesday 23rd Dec- 10am-2pm

Enough time to get your last minute gifts, made locally.

The shop is still full of stocking fillers, handmade special gifts and our new emotion station for those who need a little ‘positive thought’.

Aimee, will be in the shop tomorrow 10am-2pm, ready to help you get Christmas ready.

In the shop?

Yes you read correctly! The Overloaded gift shop has the cutest of support products coming.

The money, generated from the shop goes back into resources, sessions and a yearly stock chosen by our young people.

Staying with the ‘supportive theme’ these products are great gifts for those who need a little support, thought or positive reminder.

Unfortunately our after school, social groups will be cancelled this week.

This is due to illness in our SENtre. We wish to give it a deep clean so all can enjoy our last week of term next week.

We want to keep all well and healthy so they can enjoy the Christmas break.

Some young people start with our Outreach service. Home visits and work, building trust and rapport into teachers and education.

There is no race to the finish line with this approach, however once that trust is there, growth begins.

Many young people are finding a ‘spark’ in exploring foods and cooking.

From bedrooms and isolation, to cooking Thai recipes.

Progress is measured in many ways.

Overloaded, was kindly given a piano some months ago. We put it in the downstairs room and just observed. Young people explored, experimented and grew. No pressure, just exploration and self experimentation. The results have been amazing, both musical, mentally and strategically. Thank you 🙏

** Why visit the Overloaded Gift Shop?**

The Overloaded Gift Shop in Fishers Yard, is run by young people, learning employment skills as part of their Post16 qualification.

Opening in 2022, the shop sold items for 2 local artists. It now sells for nearly 40 local crafters.

In November the shop paid local artists £417.84 and generated funds to offer 2 much needed, mental health sessions for young people.

Every purchase supports local crafters and young people who are in our Alternative Provision.

Open Saturdays 10am-2pm
Weekdays 9.30am-2.30pm

The town was buzzing today, full of great stalls and the fair. It was really lovely to see so many make an extra effort to visit the gift shop; really lovely to have a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress. Cllr Richard Slade Clair Slade

The Overloaded gift shop is open today.
Young people have given their time on a Sunday to support local crafters and develop their employment skills.
The shop is full of lovely handmade Christmas gifts. Each purchase supports local crafters and the young people in our town.

If you are watching the light switch on, make a couple more steps to Fishers Yard. (Next to Lovetts estate agents)
