When I was little, I never thought I would get married, didn’t think someone could love me with a stoma. It didn’t feel normal, or pretty, or something someone would choose.

Even when I was 20, people asked me why I would want a stoma, and if that meant I didn’t want to get married one day. That question stayed with me for a long time.

Then there was Chris.

And I learned that love doesn’t disappear because your body is different. You can be loved just as you are.

So don’t be scared to wear the dress of your dreams!

Trust your body and trust yourself.

If I can walk down the aisle with a stoma and make it through the day without a bag bursting, then anyone can.

(And of course my bag had to feature in the detailed shots šŸ˜‚)

JogScotland Achiever of the year

I have enjoyed running for a long time but as the symptoms of my reversal got worse over the years I struggled to even run 1k without any issues.
Getting back into running after my stoma surgery has been life changing, I joined Carluke Jog Scotland to make some friends as I had just moved to the area and really wanted to find my love of running again!

CJS are so encouraging and Supportive, they’ve helped me through some really hard runs, and sp*edy races!

I still can’t believe I won, I hope this inspires others to just get outside and enjoy nature, whether it’s a walk, a jog or a run šŸ’ššŸ’™

World Ostomy Day 2025

This photo sums up my life as an ostomate.

Last weekend, I was running the Loch Ness Marathon. At the 19km mark, my bag leaked and completely came unstuck—it went everywhere. I’ve had a few bursts during training, but this one really caught me off guard. I was gutted. Mentally, I was thrown off completely and felt like I’d hit a wall.

Pushing through hard moments can be incredibly tough. I’ve spent a lot of my life wishing I didn’t have a stoma—but the truth is, this little cloud has a silver lining.

Without my stoma, I wouldn’t be here—let alone running marathons. There was a time I couldn’t run for five minutes without an accident. And now, I’m crossing finish lines.

An ostomy isn’t the worst-case scenario. For me, it’s been the thing that gave me my life back. Yes, it comes with challenges (and some messy ones), but it’s also allowed me to return to doing what I love ā¤ļø

Oh—and I did finish the marathon! My skin’s still healing, but I’m so proud I made it.

National dog day

If you both could have met you would have spent the whole time barking at each otheršŸ˜‚ I’m grateful for every hair in my dinner, every midnight woof and all of the toys that trip me up🐾

26.2 Miles

This time last week I ran my first ever Marathon
Running without a stoma was really hard, running with a stoma is still hard but much more manageable, before my surgery I could only run for about 5 minutes before needing the toilet but I just ran 26.2 whole miles without needing the toilet at all!

Training to run for so long has come with challenges, fuelling myself and keeping hydrated have been the toughest but with regular water stops I managed and had an amazing time!

I’m now fully enjoying my rest weeks before getting back into the big runs again šŸƒā€ā™€ļø
