Very excited to be starting a new class in Perthshire, at Clunie Village Hall, near Dunkeld on Monday 12th February. I started teaching Awareness Through Movement classes in 2018. It is such a delight to be starting a new group.
Feldenkrais classes are a great complement to other activities (yoga, sports, tai chi,...), enhancing your practice, as you learn to approach movement in a very different way.

New online class on Sunday evenings on Zoom.
Spaces available. If you would like to join this class, don't hesitate to get in touch.
No previous experience required, you just need an internet connection, a device with a camera (so I can see you for more personal guidance during the class), and a quiet space for one hour. A yoga mat (or similar) is also helpful.
I look forward to hearing from you.

A very interesting little exploration and description of what we do (in many different ways) in a Feldenkrais lesson.

Much of what we explore in a Feldenkrais lesson helps us to learn more about how we sense ourselves.

You inhabit a physical space that is your body but your ability to sense that physicality also gathers information from the external space around you.

Take a moment to close your eyes and ask yourself, “What space within myself am I most aware of right now?”. Do you immediately get drawn to the left or right? To the front or back?

Now ask yourself how your sense of left and right, of front and back, orient you in the space around you. Do you sense it to be a closed space or a wide open space? Perhaps you sense it differently in different directions. Even with your eyes closed it is likely that there is a direction out into the space beyond yourself that you feel more attuned to

For example, keep your eyes closed, and consider the wall beyond the side of you that is strongest in your own physical sense, does it feel far away or near? Now compare that to how you sense the wall in the opposite direction.

What is delicious about Feldenkrais lessons is the way they recognise asymmetry in you but also play with the possibility to sense yourself equally in every direction and orient yourself more completely not just in your own physicality but also in the space around you.

Do you gets aches and pains from sitting in front of a computer for long periods of times?
Here is a very interesting little video to illustrate what happens to our posture, when we lose awareness of how we sit, and how it can become something more dynamic. Enjoy!

A little video by Ingrid Weisfelt explaining how to approach Awareness Through Movement lessons:

- Wear comfortable clothing
- Stay warm
- Be comfortable - use a folded towel (or foam pad) if needed to support your head
- Move in a slow, light, easy range of motion
- Move without pain or strain
- Use your breath as your guide
- Do many light repetitions
- Find your own rhythm
- rest often
