We’re so good at decluttering our homes when spring arrives—sorting out old clothes, deep cleaning, and making space for fresh energy.

But what about the stress, tension, and emotional weight we’ve been carrying all winter?

🍂Autumn Workshop: Grounding Your Nervous System in Stormy Times 🍂

As autumn deepens around me, leaves drift from trees, vibrant colours change, and the days grow shorter. Like the trees, which gracefully let go of their leaves naturally, it reminds me that we are also designed to let go naturally.

Life's unavoidable storms may unsettle us, yet we can take inspiration from nature's quiet resilience, finding strength and a steady calm within ourselves.

In the uncertain times in which we live, stress, worry, and overwhelm can take a heavy toll, leading us down a path of sleepless nights, mental fog, and a spiral of self-criticism.

If you've noticed yourself:

⚡️Feeling "on edge" or consumed by worst-case thinking
⚡️Lying awake at night with spiralling thoughts or lost in anxious daydreams
⚡️Struggling to think clearly, stay focused, or stop self-criticism
⚡️Relying on habits like nail-biting, skin-picking, or comfort eating

Please remember, you're not alone.

These signs indicate an overworked nervous system that's inching toward burnout.

This lovely message from Vicki Cook of TRE Scotland accurately describes how tics is the body’s way of showing that it wants to heal itself, to discharge from the body the high energy created by stress and anxiety, through involuntary movements, jerks, shakes and tremors.

The tremor mechanism is already innate in the body (in all mammals actually), and the exercises of TRE help to initiate it, to naturally discharge stress and tension from the muscles, helping the body to heal.

Practising TRE and shaking regularly really can reduce symptoms as the body naturally heals itself.

Tourette's is your body wanting to release anxiety and stress - A message for Lewis Capaldi and others

“Tourette's syndrome (abbreviated as TS or Tourette's) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder. It is characterized by multiple movement (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic. Common tics are blinking, coughing, throat clearing, sniffing, and facial movements. These are typically preceded by an unwanted urge or sensation in the affected muscles known as a premonitory urge, can sometimes be suppressed temporarily, and characteristically change in location, strength, and frequency. Tourette's is at the more severe end of a spectrum of tic disorders. The tics often go unnoticed by casual observers.” Source - Wikipedia
This is a description of what the medical profession label Tourette’s. In the TRE world of natural involuntary ticks, jerks, shakes, tremors and facial releases we would say Tourette’s is one’s body wanting to release stress and anxiety through involuntary movements.
Having seen Lewis Capaldi in his documentary and his performance at Glastonbury last weekend, what I see is Lewis’ body wanting to naturally release his anxiety and stress. I don't see it as a dis-order or dis-ease. I see it as a body wanting to release stress and anxiety. The tics (involuntary movements) are instinctual, genetically programmed releases. There are other ways the body naturally releases, and these are also given medical labels again making them part of our issues, ‘Restless Leg Syndrome RLS’ and ADHD, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. When the body makes these movements it wants to heal itself. Unfortunately we don't listen to the body anymore and we have medicalised and monetarised it's healing.
TRE is a way to re-connect to these involuntary movements and start a journey of allowing our body to heal itself. TRE is not well known and only accepted by the Brazilian NHS and Danish MS society.
Many people over the last twenty years have been using David Berceli’s TRE and now understand how our body has this natural, instinctual release mechanism. As a result of reconnecting to this neurogenic release in our body many people have been healing many symptoms of ill health. Every time I teach someone to reconnect with their body I see the transformation as their body starts to regulate our nervous system and release stress and anxiety.
I would love to work with anyone who has Tourette’s and show them how to reconnect to their body and transform their tics into a natural healing release. I spent 11 years allowing my neurogenic release to heal me and now I know it’s my body doing these amazing involuntary tics, shudders, stretches, shakes etc I want to share it more and more. 🌱FREE Breathwork sessions🌱

To allow me to complete my Breathwork Facilitator training, I am offering FREE 75-minute Breathwork sessions teaching a combination of some everyday useful breathing techniques as well as the deep release and transformational technique, Conscious Connected Breathing.

Held in small group sessions, the 75-minute class will be an opportunity to share a Breathwork journey with others, in a safe and controlled environment on Zoom, with a 30-minute Conscious Connected Breathing technique, an opportunity to ground together and to share your experience in the group.

🌱Conscious Connected Breathing🌱

This breathing technique encourages profound shifts on all levels – mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Through this breathing technique, there is an ability to connect with the deepest parts of yourself - to transform, to shift or to let go of what you no longer need to hold on to.

Conscious Connected Breathing is a diaphragmatic breathing technique where the breather intentionally connects the breath without any pauses by actively inhaling and passively exhaling to release, like rolling waves of the ocean.

During this technique, 3-4 times the usual amount of oxygen enters the lungs. Think of that oxygen as energy entering the body - energy that will boost immunity and reset the nervous system.

🌱Contraindications🌱

We all breathe every day, however, when using Conscious Connected Breathing, there can be powerful effects. Therefore, there are some contraindications to be considered which are included in the mandatory questionnaire when enrolling for these classes.

Christmas is around the corner! 🎄🎅🏼🎄

During the busy festive period, it can be easy to be swept along with the festivities and forget to slow down.

It was this time of year, 3 years ago, that I burnt out. I did not see it coming at the time but looking back there were plenty of signs. As much as a challenge it was to recover, I am grateful that life presented me with an opportunity to recover, to change my lifestyle, and to learn techniques such as TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) and Breathwork, empowering me with tools to regulate my own nervous system and avert burnout. 🙏🏼

During the month of December, I am hosting December Drop-In Sessions every Tuesday at 16:00 UK time. These sessions are a small group setting, and is an opportunity to slow down, to practise various grounding techniques including the powerful TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) and Breathwork plus many more.

🍂 Autumn is well under way 🍂

Like the trees, who gracefully let go their leaves naturally, we are also designed to let things go naturally. We can learn a lot from nature right now.

Did you know our bodies are designed to let go naturally through tremoring or shaking and even crying and yawning?

When we do not let go of what the body no longer needs to retain, it can lead to all sorts of discomforts and ailments – from tension, aches and pains that become the norm, to sleep problems and digestive issues.

Through the innovative technique of TRE®, we learn to activate our innate tremor mechanism to release stress and tension from our muscles, helping us to feel calm and relaxed and more resilient in the face of stress.

Thats right, our bodies have an innate tremor mechanism that we share with all mammals on the planet! Yet for us humans, we have trained ourselves out of this primitive technique through social conditioning. Society has taught us that shaking is bad or shows weakness and that crying shows vulnerability. So, we suppress these natural impulses and retain tension in our bodies.

Join me for a 4-session introduction to learning a technique that will help alleviate tension, aches and pains, rebalance mind and body, relax you to the point of having a deep and peaceful sleep, and even enable you to keep calmer in the face of stress.
