Naseem Akhtar

Naseem Akhtar was Born in England in a small town called Blackburn Lancashire. She had discovered a passion for reflexology during her studies for an HND in holistic therapies at Blackburn College, England (2003). During the HND she quickly learnt how beneficial touch therapies can be. Going through the pressures of being a mother and a wife she had not realised how much tension she was carrying and how she was extremely depleted.

Naseem had her own personal experience with holistic therapies. She states during her course in Blackburn her tutor was giving a demonstration on massage movements and reflexology. She happened to be the guinea pig for the class. During this the tutor had picked up on many tension areas particularly during reflexology. She had not mentioned anything at the time to the tutor about the pressures she was under as a wife.

Naseem states that the following morning she could not get out of bed and felt ill. This was her first massage and reflexology which made her confused as she had never felt this way before and decided to call her tutor. Naseem was explained about the contradictions, and she seemed to have most of them which included: feeling dizzy, weak, light headed as well as boils that had erupted on her face. She was told this was because she was out of balance and that by working on her whole body it had brought everything out to the surface. She was certainly amazed after hearing this. After three days she felt revitalised and almost like a new person. Having experienced this, it made her fall in love with Reflexology and touch therapies.

Having moved to Edinburgh as a single parent with 3 children and a HND in holistic therapies, Naseem now wanted to pursue a career in this field. She states” I knew I wanted everyone to experience these touch therapies”. She then went on to graduate from Napier University, Edinburgh (2006) with a BSc in complementary therapies, specialising in reflexology on the face, feet and hands and went on to practice this for 15 years.
