I haven’t posted for a long time..

I found the need to make ‘social media content’ suddenly became a chore and draining… so I retreated and focused on just teaching and being present with my students 🌟

But I’ve poked my head out my cave briefly today to share that I will be taking a break from teaching for a while…

All my yoga classes have now finished as I’m off to prepare to have a baby🐣

It’s been strange saying bye to my students but my body feels ready to slow down and turn inwards…

🌊 please bring your own mat and props
🌊 no walks in, you must pre book
🌊 there will be no hands on adjustments
🌊 I will take a lateral flow before each class

I know things are still up in the air, scary and confusing for pregnant people during this latest wave of covid, so if you have any questions or worries about class then reach out and we can chat through them 🙂

**NEED A LITTLE REST?**

On Tuesday 14th Dec I’ll be running a lush little Zoom class from 7pm - 8.15pm…

Think blankets, pillows, comfy socks and some utter relaxation…

The class will focus on Restorative yoga with a splash of Yin. And if you’re not sure what that means, don’t worry, it basically means the class will be slow, low to the ground, use a lot of support (no fancy props needed, we’ll use household props) and will give you the opportunity to unwind and cocoon in some rest…

This time of year can be lovely but can also be stressful and for some it can be emotionally challenging and difficult. So however you feel about Christmas, know that this class will be a safe space for you to come as you are and tend to yourself and your energy levels…

Cost: 💸 £6 per person
(Concessions available for those on low income and in marginalised communities)

**Pinchy pain?**

Pelvic Girdle Pain (or PGP) can be super common in pregnancy and manifests in all sorts of ways.

Some pregnant people describe it as having barbed wire in their pelvis, that stops them from even the most basic of functioning. Others may have it slightly milder and experience it as pinching or aching in their p***c bone or lower back.

Either way, it sucks!

If you have PGP or think you may do, firstly talk to your midwife. Secondly seeing a manual therapist such as an Osteopath or Physio can sometimes be really helpful in giving you some reprieve from symptoms.

There’s no one size fits all answer to PGP, so it’s important to tune into your body and pay attention to your own range of motions that are pain free.

Pregnancy Yoga can help support you with this…you can spend time with your body learning what movements work and what doesn’t. And importantly, we link the body with the breath. Although this sounds really obvious, when we’re in pain we often hold or restrict our breath which then has a knock on effect on our nervous system…so bringing your attention to breathing patterns and learning to *inhabit* your breath a little deeper is another tool in your toolkit in helping to deal with pain.

This week’s Pregnancy Yoga class is using a birthing ball, so great for anyone with PGP!

So I don’t promise that I’ll write a blog post regularly, that it’ll be packed with science or profound… but it will be truthful and it will keep you occupied whilst you’re queueing in Starbucks, having a wee or procrastinating from your to do list 😉

Pregnancy can create a whole host of symptoms..

🌱 heartburn
🌱 leg cramps
🌱 pelvic pain
🌱 headaches
🌱 insomnia
🌱 anxiety
🌱 nausea and vomiting

This list (unfortunately can go on)…

Each pregnancy is different and every-body is different, so it’s important to lean into what feels comfortable ✨for you✨

Pregnancy Yoga is not a quick fix (nothing is) but it *is* shown to help people manage the symptoms and sometimes alleviate them..

You don’t have to feel great when you come to my pregnancy yoga class, you don’t need to be glowing or full of energy, just come as you are and find a little something that you need….and perhaps you’ll leave class feeling a little bit more able to cope 🙂
