We all have the raw materials we need to live a happy, healthy life. Upcycled Health supports you to restore these building blocks to give yourself a new lease of life using your own unique nutrition and lifestyle toolbox. We will explore what nourishes you on the plate, as well as taking into consideration all the elements of your life which nourish you off the plate such as sleep, stress management, movement and mindset shifts. Together we will create a personalised nutrition & lifestyle plan which works for youu and I will provide guidance, support and accountability to help you achieve your health related goals. With 16 years experience in healthcare as a pharmacist I offer a unique service aiming to bridge the gap between conventional and naturopathic medicine. I am passionate about lifestyle medicine and nutrition and the impact they can have on our health. I understand that our bodies are complex and it's systems interconnected and I provide comprehensive investigation into the root causes of symptoms and medical conditions. I offer Nutritional Therapy and Health Coaching packages both online and in person. Qualifications:

🛠Upycling takes existing products and materials and gives them a new lease of life. And that’s what upcycled health aims to do - give you a new lease of life!

💥In this series we take meals that you may eat on a regular basis and give them a revamp by adding ingredients to them to increase their nutritional value.

❤️I love food and want to encourage others to focus on what we can add in to the diet to support our health and wellbeing.

Our diets don’t have to be restrictive and boring they can be full of amazing nutritious tasty food.

✨️Sometimes it just takes a bit of inspiration.

I’ve started with two dinner options: pasta and the classic roast dinner and provided some ideas to get you started.

It also marks a turning point in the seasons sparking renewal and positivity for the year ahead.

Day 10: Eat a fruit or vegetable you don’t eat regularly

🍏🍎🍐🍊🥦🥬🥔🧅🍠🥕

We are creatures of habit and often gravitate to the same items in our weekly shop.

Today I challenge you to eat something different and add a bit of diversity to your diet.

Why is this useful? Well, it helps you to consume different vitamins and minerals, beneficial polyphenols which help to protect the body and increases fibre to support your gut.

Please do not think that I am trying to recommend that you avoid all the festive treats on the run up to Christmas.

🎄I am all for the tradition of a chocolate advent calendar, a mince pie by the fire or a slice of stollen.

DAY 7 - SELF-CARE SUNDAY 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘‍♂️

❔️Is self-care something you prioritise?

❔️What does it look like to you?

❔️We often hear about self-care but how often do you include it in your daily routine?

I love this quote:

‘An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care provides the fuel that allows your light to shine bright’ ✨️

There are many barriers to self-care:

⏳️Lack of time
🤦🏼‍♀️Guilt
🤷‍♂️Not a priority
💰Don’t see the value
🙋Perfectionism
👩‍💻Workplace culture

🔋Think of it as creating renewable energy.⚡️ It is energy management.

🤔Focus on the bigger picture and why it is important to you.

Today’s step is to practice self-care so take some time to think what would fill up your cup today and schedule it in.

Don’t overcomplicate it. Keep it simple.

🫖It could be a hot drink with some peace and quiet.

🍂A walk outside

👩‍🌾Time in the garden

🧘🏼‍♀️🧘‍♂️Mediation or Yoga

DAY 5: DO A FORM OF EXERCISE YOU LOVE

Exercise is often associated with discomfort.

I am aware of this as I have signed up for a Hyrox doubles competition in March. I haven’t included any pictures of me doing the classes in this post for a reason….just joking 🙃

But joking aside, despite any discomfort I may feel whilst running, swinging kettlebells, paddling on choppy seas, tackling a steep slope on a mountain, pulling the dreaded skierg or even holding space for silence during yoga; the benefits that are gained make up for it all.

Moving our bodies is one of the simplest ways, for many, to lift our mood.

It not only brings with it those much needed endorphins, but often time in nature and a supportive community.

Today isn’t about a mammoth task. It’s doing something that you enjoy and can be as small as a 10 minute walk outside on your lunch break or a 15 minute yoga practice before bed.

Lovely feedback from a nutritional therapy client 🍏

Using an in-depth health history, food diary, lifestyle analysis and supplement review I created a bespoke plan for this client.

We also used functional tests such as gut health and microbiome stool testing to further explore underlying potential root causes.
