Crystals don’t need elaborate rituals to be useful. Sometimes the most supportive thing is choosing one, placing it somewhere you’ll see it, and letting it act as a reminder.

For example: A stone by your bed can gently cue rest. One on your desk can signal “steady, not urgent.”

There’s a common misunderstanding that nervous system regulation means feeling calm all the time. If that were true, most of us would be “dysregulated” before breakfast.

Regulation is actually about range — being able to feel activated, emotional, or tired and find your way back again.

You can cry, feel irritated, or need space and still be regulated.
You can also look calm on the outside while your system is quietly overloaded (we’ve all smiled through that at least once).

The goal isn’t constant serenity, despite some spiritual practices seeming to encourage this. It’s responsiveness rather than overwhelm, it's a healthy relationship to your inner and outer world.

I often open my journal expecting something profound and end up writing: “I’m tired and slightly annoyed.”

And honestly? That’s useful information.

This mini ritual is one question only: What do I need right now?
No five-year plan. No personal development pressure.

Sometimes the answer is water.
Sometimes it’s cancelling something.
Sometimes it’s going to bed earlier than my ego would like.

𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞. Rest seems to help things settle whether I’ve ticked the boxes or not. 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲.

Strange how that works (or perhaps not strange at all :-)).

Many people worry that Reiki training will require belief, special abilities, or a particular personality type.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐢 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟏) requires none of those things.

If your body feels buzzy or scattered, try this:
pause, name five things you can see, and gently exhale. No imagery. No fixing. Just noticing.

Most of us don’t need more techniques — we need fewer tabs open, internally and externally. (Yes, that includes the mental ones.)

Self-control is about forcing yourself to behave. Self-regulation is about understanding why something feels hard in the first place.

One tightens. The other softens.

Regulation might mean taking a pause, changing the environment, or acknowledging that today isn’t a high-capacity day — which is deeply inconvenient to productivity myths everywhere.

Supportive systems reduce the need for willpower.

A Candle for “𝗜 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆”

I light a candle in the evening if my brain is still listing everything I didn’t do.
It’s not ceremonial. It’s more… mindfully defiant.

The flame becomes a marker: today has ended. No more mental to-do list negotiations.

I sit for one minute (sometimes thirty seconds) and let the day be finished—even if I don’t feel “done.”
Perfection not required. Pyjamas encouraged.

A journaling question I keep returning to: “𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳?”

Not in a dramatic way. In the small, everyday moments — saying yes too quickly, staying quiet when something mattered, pushing through when rest was needed.

I don’t use this question to judge myself. I use it to notice patterns with a bit more kindness (and a bit less surprise).
