A Social Prescriber is another member of a GP surgery team.

You’ll be referred to a Social Prescriber to connect you to local groups or services which offer practical or emotion support to help improve your overall health and wellbeing.

That could be anything from a walking club to debt counselling.

So their ‘prescriptions’ are not for medicines!

Here at our practice, we have a Social Prescriber plus other healthcare professionals with expert skills and knowledge who work alongside your GP. Being referred to one of our healthcare professionals means you’ll still be treated by someone with the right skills and knowledge for your problem or condition. It will always be your choice but means you may not need to wait to see your GP and may be seen sooner!
