Welcome to December!

I can hardly believe we are here already! I hope that you are able to embrace the festivities that December can bring. In class this month we will be working on bringing a little joy and self care into our routines as well as reminding ourselves of some coping strategies for this busy, and sometimes challenging time of year.

This time of year can be difficult for lots of people for a variety of reasons and I wanted to share these gentle reminders with you as we enter the last couple of weeks before our Christmas break:

💆🏻‍♀️ Self Care Routines - Create a routine for yourself, set a regular sleep/wake cycle, plan regular (even if small) meal times and spend time on your physical self care at least once a day.

☕ Take a break - Allow yourself time off to look after yourself, to do something you enjoy or engage with a hobby.

🫂 Be Kind to Yourself - Self care isn't selfish. Be kind to yourself because I know each and every one of you and you are all wonderful and deserve to know that everyday. Give yourself (or a pet) a cuddle, warm your hands and place them on a part of you that needs a sense of touch and being held. Remember, you can soothe yourself.

👋🏻 Reach out - Reach out to loved ones and friends if you are finding things difficult, and don't forget you are part of a wonderful and caring Yoga community that can't wait to see you in January!

I will be taking a break for a couple of weeks over the festive period, so there will be no classes between 13th December - 8th January 2026, but classes will resume on Friday 9th January 2026.

If you would like to join me for class in the New Year, dates for 2026 have now been added to the booking system. Don't forget to check for availability and the most up-to-date timetable, please remember pre-booking is essential.

Thank you for all of your time and energy this year and I hope that you and your loved ones have a peaceful festive period,

✨ Love & Light ✨

I have seen a lot of posts on social media in recent months, tearing down the use of, or even the mere suggestion of, yoga in pain and fatigue management. Whilst I understand the origins of these mostly tongue in cheek comments, it got me thinking. If I can see this (quite frankly harmful) rhetoric, then it's likely you can too and it is important to me to add a counter balance to this negativity.

As a yoga teacher with ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia, I truly understand the complexities of chronic fatigue and persistent pain, in a way that other yoga teachers perhaps can't. That said, there are some very good teachers out there that do a wonderful job to cater for our demographic, and I have huge respect for those amazing teachers who helped me along my yoga journey.

However, for those of us living with the daily soul destroying and relentlessly exhausting reality of chronic health conditions, it can sometimes feel like that others don't understand, especially if they're asking us to connect with our bodies and move them in a way that feels uncomfortable.

Yoga absolutely has a place in my own pain and fatigue journey. But I understand that it is not for everyone and it is not a miracle cure. Previously I have been able to teach several classes and workshops a week, now I teach one class a week and very few workshops. That ebb and flow and accepting my own limitations at different stages of my life (as demonstrated by the photos in recent years) is exactly why I love yoga.

I understand the frustration within the community. As a person living with chronic illnesses, I too get fed up with people telling me about the newest fad that will 'cure' me, but yoga isn't that. It's not a fad, or a cure.

Yoga is so much more than a slim physique, exercise and being able to get yourself into impossible poses. It is acceptance of a body that perhaps doesn't do what we want it to or what it used to do. It is mental and physical resilience. Sometimes it is an active process. Sometimes it is all about stillness.

Whatever yoga looks like for you and your body, you are welcome, you are safe and you are seen, no matter what stage in your journey you are at.

One of the things I have been hearing a lot recently is, "I just need a hug, I don't know why, but I do". Does that ring a bell? Sometimes, even when nothing is wrong, we all just need a hug.

It seems like a simple thing, but what if you live alone, or you don't like the sensation of touch from another person? Well those essential hugs can be from anything that gives you the same sense of safety and that stimulates the same relaxation response, so stroking or cuddling a beloved pet, or even giving yourself a cuddle throughout the day can improve your mood.

This week in class we will be exploring the use of touch to soothe ourselves, learning techniques to make sure we are getting at least those vital 12 hugs a day to support our overall physical and mental wellbeing.

Class this week will also be followed by one of our regular 'Cuppa & Catch Up' sessions. So if you would like to come along, try the class and meet some lovely, like-minded people (and enjoy some tea and cake), just book online or pop me a message.

Sending you gentle hugs for the week ahead
