Did you know that donkeys aren’t waterproof?

Yes that’s right - unlike horses, their coats lack the natural grease to repel rain, making them prone to getting soaked and cold, so they need access to dry shelters year-round because they evolved from hot, dry climates and their coats are thinner and less water-resistant.

This means donkeys require man-made shelters to stay dry and healthy, especially in wet weather, with rugs sometimes needed for extra protection.

They are specifically prone to rain rot from rain water good job all of ours are spoilt! 🩷
