SNAP is a community for photographers that hosts meet-ups and educational workshops. SNAP Photo Festival is returning from 24th-27th April 2023, and honestly?

We can’t wait. SNAP! 2023 will be taking place in the beautiful Peak District at Mount Cook Adventure Centre. With stunning scenery (Black Rocks is a short walk away) just waiting to be captured in your unique style, a huge hall for talks and sharing meals together, fire pits, this place is exactly what a photographer needs to get those creative juices flowing, focus on your craft and to kick back from everything for a while. Your ticket includes 3 nights shared accommodation, all meals, talks and practical workshops, morning yoga and evening entertainment (including a pantomime, karaoke and of course an EPIC party!) It will probably also include a whole bunch of new friends, SO MANY PHOTOS, at least one hangover, a deeper understanding of yourself and your craft, a warm fuzzy feeling and an inexplicable desire to return year, after year, after year…

I have so many things I want to say.
But I feel a little low on energy.
I head to Portugal on Monday to complete my yoga teacher training so I will try to share all my thank yous and also talk about where we go next over the next couple of days.

Right now though I just want to share this moment at Big SNAP this year. I never imagined that it would make me sit there and sob.

decided to do a long table for her presentation. This was an invitation for attendees to come to the table and discuss who gets visibility in the photography industry.

This is how we opened.

I was scared no one would volunteer but immediately the table was full and what followed was just over an hour of important conversation that discussed the big problems in this industry.

The people who took a seat were diverse wonderful humans who openly shared their experiences and views while also being kind to one another.

This naturally unfurled into wider issues around oppression but also the power of community and how that can be one of the most important things we engage with.

We need more of this everywhere.
And it will be something we explore more of with the next stage in our journey as

Day one is done.
And what a day.
The build up to this is terrifying. It’s so much work. Endless selling. Stress like no other and it’s also quite lonely.

You create a space, a space you know is powerful, beautiful AND you know you are offering something like nothing else.

A space where you put inclusivity and community at the front. A space where you operate ethically and fairly despite the personal financial loss to yourself.

You do all this because you want to challenge the status quo and create space for everyone.

Somehow that makes you an outcast from the wider industry.

But then you witness a group of humans walk straight up to a stage in the first 20mins of opening to take a seat at the table to have a difficult conversation about the challenges in our industry.

It was the most wonderful moment and I could not stop crying. This is what I wanted to create. This amount of safety, a beautiful container where difficult and life changing conversations can take place.

And I never did it alone. Thank you to everyone who spoke today and thank you to everyone who is with us this week. Thank you to everyone who loves me and supports me. And thank you to everyone who stands on the edges loudly demanding better.

Thank you for facilitating this magical moment.

Time to sleep.
I wonder what gifts tomorrow will bring.

Turning all my other grids into chaos but I don’t care because I don’t want anyone to get FOMO!

SNAP! Kicks off one week today.

And we are wildly excited as well as wildly busy.

SNAP ISN’T JUST FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS!

I was over the moon when agreed to speak at SNAP this year. SNAP is way more than wedding photography, we love to learn from other spaces in the photography industry and also curate our talks to cover a wide range of topics that can be helpful to more than just wedding photographers.

So without much further ado…

Marcelle is a London and New York based fashion and beauty photographer & director. Her passion for being creative has allowed her to develop an array of different skillsets and today as a multi- skilled creative she is able to fuse her passions to provide clients with projects that capture my their vision for their businesses.

With over 10 of experience her work has allowed her to service local and international clients and she has been sought after by Estee Lauder, Superdrug and ITV and more.

As well as being equally comfortable in front of the lens has led to several influencer partnerships and digital appearances with brands including : Pride Magazine, Hauwi, Shea Moisture, Hair Flair and Happy Socks.

She’s currently based in London and travels for assignments between NY, Paris and Italy working with a broad range of clients from start ups to well established brands.

As well as Marcelle’s talk she will also be leading a shoot with the brilliant modelling so you can choose to do that rather than the wedding styled shoot.

Big SNAP will be taking place on the 23rd & 24th April 2024 in Folkestone, Kent. Ticket sales close on April 18th at 8pm.

Just 11 days to go until we welcome everyone to Folkestone for Big SNAP.

Soooo many moving parts and so much work at this stage but it’s all worth it when I look at these photos from last year by and remember how magical SNAP is. This year will be different but not so different and we can’t wait to see everyone together again.

We are excited for the talks, the shoots, the inspiration, the learning and being in community.

I am also feeling an element of sadness as this year marks an ending. SNAP will be expanding past just photography to be inclusive of all creatives so this year will be special as it’s the last we do solely for photographers.

Two weeks today and we will all be at in the auditorium at the Quarterhouse listening to our first day of incredible talks for Big SNAP!

Final plans are being made and we really can’t wait to see everyone. Last year was magical and we have no doubt that this year will be the same.

It’s two weeks until we all gather in Folkestone for Big SNAP!! It’s going to be a magical few days and our speakers have got some absolute gold for you all.

I am so excited about meeting and hearing her share her wisdom on our stage. She sent me her talk description and I think we can all agree it’s not going to be one to miss.

The end of the tax year is upon us and a ticket to SNAP is a great investment in your photography business.

We have 8 incredible speakers to inspire you and help you grow as photographers. We have a wedding styled shoot for the wedding photographers and a fashion/portrait shoot for our non-wedding friends.

We will also have sometime for sea swimming, headshot swap in nature, evenings together for pizza and beach views and a bit of a party to close :)
