✨I notice that this time of year can be especially tender for some, which has led me to reflect about our hearts and how delicate they are. Our emotions are things we shield from harm, but what if by allowing ourselves to feel, to soften, and to breathe more fully into our hearts is not a sign of weakness, but of resilience and it is here we actually become stronger... ✨
❤️In Chinese medicine there is a point called REN 17 – Shan Zhong, often translated as “the Centre of Sincerity.” It sits at the centre of the chest — the space where we feel tight when we’re holding back tears, where we sigh when something feels heavy, where breath becomes shallow when emotions are unspoken.
This point is known as the Sea of Qi and the Front-Mu of the Pericardium. It regulates the breath, eases chest oppression, and gently releases contained sadness. It’s the point of the deep exhale. The point that helps the heart stop bracing. When this area softens, the chest expands… and with it, our capacity to love without armour.
In the Kabbalistic tradition, this centre resonates with Tiferet — the heart of the Tree of Life — representing harmony between who we are and what we express. True beauty comes from that alignment. From honesty. From allowing ourselves to feel without masks.
Caring for your heart means honouring your emotional truth — whether it’s joy, grief, gratitude, or longing. When we soften here, compassion grows — for ourselves first, and then for others.
May we all remember to breathe from sincerity, and to treat our own hearts with kindness. ❤️
