Humber & North Yorkshire Weight Management Service
We’re pleased to share some long-awaited news: from 6th October 2025, the Humber and North Yorkshire Weight Management Service is open for referrals.
This NHS-commissioned service gives you access to the weight loss injection Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) for up to 1 year, combined with a required 9-month lifestyle support programme. You will need to actively engage with the lifestyle programme to maintain eligibility.
Eligibility
The criteria are set by NHS England, and for the first cohort you may qualify if you have:
A BMI of 40 or above (or 37.5 or above for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African, or African-Caribbean backgrounds)
AND
At least four of the following health conditions:
• Heart or circulation problems (heart attack, angina, stroke)
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Sleep apnoea
• Type 2 diabetes
If you have Type 2 diabetes, a separate set of criteria applies for accessing Tirzepatide. Your GP can explain this.
Important note: This is a separate NHS-commissioned service, entirely independent of Gilberdyke Health Centre.
Your GP cannot influence or interfere with the selection process or the way the service operates.
Eligible referrals are reviewed by Yorkshire Health Partners (YHP). If accepted, you’ll be referred to a community pharmacist who will manage your weight loss injection treatment over the year.
