Our womens ride this Friday 6th March will be doing a bike skills session then heading over to Glasgow Womens Library to meet up with the ride group from Women on Wheels to celebrate International Womens Day. We will enjoy a wee cuppa with the others and find out more about the Library.

All 3 of our organisations have activities all year round for women and those who identify as women. Although we did Ride Bright last year, we are saving that for November this year!

If you haven't been on our womens ride before come along and join us for this shorter session!

Sign up through Plinth to help us manage numbers.

Please make a donation towards paying for this ride if you are able to do so. We operate a Pay As You Can from £0-£25. We do not have funding to run these rides and so rely on donations to keep them going. You can make a cash donation on the day or donate to our Just Giving page

💜🚲 International Women’s Day is coming up… but at Sunny Cycles, supporting women happens all year round. 🚲💜

International Women’s Day is an important opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements and highlight ongoing inequalities, but meaningful change doesn’t happen in just one day.

At Sunny Cycles, we’re committed to creating welcoming, supportive spaces for women throughout the year. From beginner-friendly sessions to confidence-building rides and social cycling opportunities, we work to ensure women feel safe, supported and empowered on two (or three!) wheels.

Last year we delivered Ride Bright together with Women on Wheels, bringing women together in a powerful celebration of cycling and community. It was a big, brilliant event and one that takes significant planning so we’ll be keeping Ride Bright for November again this year 💜✨

In the meantime, our regular activities continue, because visibility, access and encouragement shouldn’t be limited to a single date in the calendar.

We’re proud to work alongside inspiring organisations like Women on Wheels and Glasgow Women's Library, who champion women’s voices and participation across Glasgow.

If you’d like to learn more about the amazing work happening across the city, we encourage you to check out each organisation’s website and see what activities, events and opportunities are coming up.

Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day and keep doing the work every other day of the year too. 💜

🌍🤝 Sunny Cycles at The Gathering 2026 🤝🌍

Carol, Sandra and Anne had the pleasure of attending The Gathering 2026, hosted by Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

The Gathering is always a powerful moment in the year for Scotland’s third sector bringing charities, social enterprises and community organisations together to reflect, challenge and collaborate.

It was a fantastic opportunity to:
✨ See what’s happening across the wider charity sector
✨ Share ideas and experiences with fellow third sector colleagues
✨ Attend insightful workshops - including sessions on governance and policies in the age of AI
✨ Explore how emerging technologies can both support and potentially harm vulnerable individuals

As organisations working closely with diverse communities, these conversations matter. Understanding the opportunities and risks around AI, safeguarding, governance and inclusion helps us strengthen our own practice and continue delivering responsible, people-centred services.

It was inspiring to connect with so many passionate organisations working to make Scotland fairer, more inclusive and more resilient.

We’re coming back with fresh ideas, new connections and renewed energy for the year ahead 🚲💛

🚲💛 February Ride Round-Up 💛🚲

February brought a real mix of weather - crisp, cold mornings, the odd grey spell… and finally, those first glimpses of sunshine starting to return 🌤️

And we felt it.

Despite the winter chill, our riders kept showing up week after week. From steady confidence-building sessions to social group rides, Victoria Park has been full of determination, laughter and layers upon layers of gloves and scarves 🧣

As the days slowly start to stretch out again, you can feel the shift. A little more light. A little more warmth. A lot more smiles.

This month we’ve:
✨ Welcomed new riders taking their first pedals
✨ Seen regulars building strength and confidence
✨ Supported adapted bike users to stay active through winter
✨ Continued creating a welcoming space to connect and move

There’s something special about cycling this time of year that feeling of riding into brighter days ahead.

March, we’re ready for you 🌱☀️

📊🚲 Sunny Cycles AGM 2026 🚲📊

A few weeks ago, we gathered at the Heart of Scotstoun for our Annual General Meeting, a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and look ahead to what’s next.

Our AGM is always an important moment in the year. It’s where we pause, take stock of our impact, and come together as a community - trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters - to shape the future of Sunny Cycles.

Over the past year, we’ve:
✨ Expanded access to adapted cycling
✨ Strengthened partnerships across Glasgow
✨ Increased participation in our regular sessions
✨ Continued breaking down barriers to cycling for people of all abilities

We also shared plans for the year ahead building sustainability, growing participation, strengthening governance, and continuing to centre inclusion in everything we do.

And a special thank you to everyone who supported our bake sale at the AGM, together you raised over £200 to help our activities continue 💛 Every donation, every cake, every contribution makes a difference, and we’re so grateful to our generous community.

Sunny Cycles exists because of the people behind it and it’s exciting to see what we’ll achieve together in the year ahead.

Here’s to another year of riding, connecting and growing 🚲💛

Thursday 26th February 2026 - the forecast was for 100% rain for 1pm when our group OPEKA was due in today. However, they weren't going to let a little bit of rain come between them and their cycling!!

We were actually lucky and there was only a light shower while the group were in, an they absolutely loved the session. One of them had even said at the start that she wasn't going on, but she did great!

The group hadn't been on the bikes for a while so we took the time to go over some basic skills, then took a short ride along to WEST On The Green for coffee. Well done to everyone and a huge thank you to our volunteers for always providing the support and encouragement to our participants.

These sessions are funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland funding, and this funding enables people to have regular access to cycling on bikes which are specific to their needs.

🌻 Community Collaborations 🌻

One of the most powerful things about being based at The Glasgow Collective is the incredible organisations we’re surrounded by every day.

From food justice and wellbeing to creative media, community cycling and grassroots support, collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Being part of a coworking space like this doesn’t just give us a desk… it creates opportunities, shared ideas, referrals, partnerships and real impact.

We’re proud to collaborate with such inspiring organisations including:
🌈 Grace & Green
🤝 Collective Communities
🥕 Nutrition Scotland
🎥 Media Co-op
💜 KOSU
🦊 Wild Fox Wellness
🚲 Rooted Cycling
🌿 Tranquility Cycles CIC
🏙 Invisible Cities
💚 Glasgow Greens

Together, we’re building healthier, more connected communities across Glasgow.

Collaboration isn’t just a buzzword for us - it’s how we grow, learn and make cycling accessible to more people every day.
