💜 MUSIC 🎶

Did you know there is a direct link between music and mood!

Music stimulates the release of
neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin associated with pleasure, motivation and emotional regulation and can lower cortisol levels, related to stress.

So stick on your favourite, uplifting tunes and listen to them whatever you’re getting up to. Even if it means you feel 1% better you’re moving in the right direction.

It’s that nerve-wracking time of year again when Scottish school pupils receive their exam results tomorrow. Waiting for result day may bring a whole range of emotions…😰🫣😬 all of which are completely normal and understandable. Nervousness, anxiety, worry, fear, excitement, dread, anticipation, amongst many other feelings (for both the young person and parent / carer!).

Whatever the outcome, it’s always important to remember that these exam results, no matter if they are what you hoped for or if you end up feeling disappointed with them, do not define you or your worth. You are you, and we all have our own path in life and not all of these paths should or need to be linked to the outcome of exams. Let us celebrate the efforts and achievements in all areas of life, be it at school or home and beyond 🙌🏼🥳

We wish the pupils of Scotland well, whatever the outcome ❤️

🤸‍♂️🏋🏻🧘🚴🏻‍♀️🏊🏽‍♂️🤽🏿‍♀️

Last week was mental health awareness week with the theme of MOVEMENT. It’s no secret that moving more is good for our mental health.

Exercise releases “feel good” hormones, that reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and anger. It can make us feel better about our bodies and improve our sleep too.

Simple, right? So whats stopping us?

Lack of time
Lack of confidence
Lack of motivation
. . Are just some reasons.

It can feel overwhelming thinking about exercise and often our brains start to convince us of reasons not to do it.

Start slow - it can be useful to start off small such as a short walk or taking the stairs instead of the lift.

Make time - there are 168 hours in a week.

Set goals - goals will motivate you to keep going.

If you’re thinking of starting to increase
your movement give it a go and be mindful of how you feel before and after exercise, rate how you feel out of 10. You might be surprised with the results!

Just wanted to share a wee thought. . .

6 years ago today I had my interview to study Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I remember thinking of all the work this would entail, how long the course would take, the things I’d miss out on at weekends and all the things really I needed to talk myself out of it. Anyway, for some reason I went and 6 years later I find myself sitting in this beautiful office space at The Wellbeing Rooms having completed my 250th session 💜 (and met a few new pals along the way!)

These are good reminders every day. Happy Easter 🐣💜
