What an amazing night at the Funeral Awards last night. Huge congratulations to all the winners 🏆
Although it wasn't a win for me I had an absolutely wonderful evening!
David Somerville Independent Celebrant , Natalie Stevenson Celebrant , Whispers in Time Memorial Jewellery Bishopbriggs Crematorium and of course my wee lovey dovey Acts of Dove were brilliant company. Always fabulous to catch up with my favourite ladies, Flowers by Karen Kilmarnock đź©·
Missed the lovely Becky's Flowers and ( I promise I did look for you) Memory Within Memorial Jewellery xx
If there was an award for least photogenic I'd have been a shoo in 🤣
Edited to add a big thank you to all the lovely staff at The Marriott. Those guys did an excellent job and absolutely made sure we were all looked after. I really appreciate you đź©·

An amazing new app full of guidance and support for people going through the grief after the loss of a baby.

Big news đź’›

We’re proud to announce the launch of Erin’s App created with care, compassion, and a deeply important purpose: to support people navigating baby loss.

Baby loss is an experience that can feel isolating and overwhelming, and too often people are left without the right support at the right time. Erin’s App is designed to help change that offering a space for guidance, resources, and gentle support when it’s needed most.

Why it matters:
✨ It helps reduce isolation during an incredibly difficult time
✨ It provides access to supportive resources and information
✨ It creates a more compassionate, understanding space for families

This app is about more than technology it’s about care, remembrance, and making sure no one has to go through baby loss alone.

We’re honoured to share it, and hopeful for the support it can bring.

Yesterday, as I do every year, I was struggling with my submission for the funeral awards. It hit harder because I'd usually call my biggest cheerleader and number one supporter, my mum, dangerous Doreen. This year I can't.
So I pulled out my box with all the cards and notes, as well as all the pictures your children have drawn me and I sat with a glass of wine and read through them.
It helped me so much to read all your really kind words and gave me the wee boost I needed. With that and a wee pep talk from the lovely Acts of Dove I've finally managed to press the submit button! Now it's all in the judges hands.
So this is a huge thank you to all of you for your continued support. It really does mean the world to me. C xx

Good luck, Karen & Tom!

Good luck, Karen & Tom!

Tom and I are doing something a bit out of our comfort zone… we’re taking on a skydive on 30th May.

Not for the thrill of it, but to raise funds for Richmond’s Hope — a charity that supports children and young people through grief.

We see first-hand how loss affects families, and the support they provide is so important. They give children a safe space to understand what they’re feeling and help them find a way through it.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it really would mean a lot to us — and to the children and families who need that support.

Thank you for taking the time to read this 🤍

Like many, I have been following the news regarding Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull. My heart hurts for all the families involved. What was already a distressing time was made worse by the abhorrent acts of Robert Bush.It is completely understandable that people may now lose faith in the funeral industry and worry about their own loved ones.
For over a decade I have worked beside many funeral directors, all of whom treat the people in their care with the utmost dignity and respect. Their dedication to providing the best care means that they will always welcome your questions and answer your concerns. Never be afraid to approach your funeral director about anything that is worrying you.

Robert Bush was not a funeral director, he was a con man and a criminal. My thoughts are with everyone affected by him.

Unfortunately I have been on the receiving end of a completely creepy phonecall this evening.
It isn't just me, this person has been making calls to Celebrants across the country. It can be unnerving and disturbing and I'll admit that it shook me for a moment. So this is just a little heads up to my fellow Celebrants. Calls are coming in at around 9-10pm from an unknown number. For the moment, if you have call screening available on your phone it may be a good option to use it.
There is a post in the Celebrants Collective about reporting to police.
Be vigilant and look out for eachother xx C x
